Scream Team at YC/BC--EDITED 1/7/08 POST 1

I want to sincerely THANK ALL OF YOU that will be there at the YC/BC screaming and cheering us on. You will be a sight for sore "everything" when I am approaching the aproach to the finish of the Marathon and my second consecutive Goofy.

:grouphug:

Thanks to all the screamers! I'll see my family at AK (mile 18), then again at the finish. You'll be a tremendous help to me during the long, lonely last quarter. :goodvibes

WISHERS ARE THE BEST!:cool1: :thumbsup2 :cheer2:

I will be there and I will bring some licorice whips.... they are easy to hand out and the runners seem to enjoy them! I am very excited now.... More so to Scream than actually run! Is that wrong?? LOL!! ;)

Kathy

This is Great! You have no idea how excited I am going to be to see you out on the course! This is what makes this such a great time and a great team. From the bottom of my heart - THANKS!

Thanks for posting the Pictures!!

The more I think of it, I'll probably not go to the start of the Marathon at 4am!! :rotfl2:

Question- say I hope to finish the full in about 5+ hours or so. Do you think I should stick around the finish to watch my fellow WISHers or should I try to limp on back to the YC/BC and cheer from there? As a runner, can you even see much at the finish as far as cheering? My family will stay at the YC/BC location, so I may have some weird guilt about lingering too long at the finish (ridiculous to feel guilty, I know.)

Of course it depends on how I feel at the time, but just wondered if anyone with experience has strong feelings one way or the other.

I like the pretzel idea! Maybe I'll bring some smaller, less chokable candies, like Skittles and jellybeans... :woohoo:

Jen - I willl finish around 4:30 and I will walk back through EPCOT to YC/BC. This is my 4th year running WDW and the finish area is not the best place to cheer. Just looking at Judy's pics makes me tear up thinking about how awesome it is to anticipate and see the large WISH contingency at YC/BC. My DH and DD(10) & DD (6) will be there.

You know I like the rough stuff.. :rolleyes1 that is just what it might take to get me to the finish line. :rotfl2:

I have a giant bag of cinnamon disks in my luggage. I'll only need a few if y'all want to take the rest to distribute. I find after about 15 miles, water doesn't taste good anymore :guilty:

I was able to extend my reservation, so now I am able to stay and join the Scream Team. Woo Hoo. My dh can't stay though. He has to head back on Sat evening to teach his Sunday School class. I am trying to talk him into taking the kiddos back with him, so I can have a day to myself. I'm worried my little ones (8 and 5) won't want to scream for too long, and I'll have to end up missing it all.

Anyway, we are driving to the World and staying at the Yacht Club. I'm thinking I will see if I can find a good size cooler on wheels and bringing it with me -- along with some water and ice of course. However, I'm new to this, and it may seem like a silly question but....... Should the water be iced down or not? Would a few sponges be nice to have, so runners could squeeze some cold water on their heads? What about lawn chairs? I have a feeling I will be a bit sore from the Half the day before. Are they allowed. Since we're driving, these are all things that I can easily bring. Also being at the YC makes getting it from our room to the boardwalk easy, too.

Dh doesnt like iced water when he's running - but I'm thinking he'll be grateful for anything -

btw he said he doubts if he'll notice anyone around that time!!

Chairs, that's an idea - but it looks like we'll be close to the pool - drats and I have the best cooler/chair!! (DD was in Irish Step dance, and you had to bring everything during their 'compettions") I cant take any more on the plane!!

Hope your dh will take the kids to Sunday School with him!! That can be a hard age attention span wise - and lead to many distractions for them!! (my boys could always "amuse" themselves!! lol memories!!)

I have no idea WHAT to expect!!

I did find the loud noisy tamborine that will pack easily!!

Judy--Those pics made me cry!!! It reminded me that even though the marathon sucked last year for me, seeing the Wish team at mile 24 was so uplifting and meaned so much to me. I think that's why I want this year's YC/BC scream team to rock again!!

Eva--That's awesome that you can stay to scream team, I'll add to you to the list. I don't see why anyone would care if you brought lawn chairs, we'll be on sidewalk, so technically not in the resort, also you might be sore after the half, so go ahead and take a load off.

To the marathon newbies--You guys are in for a wild ride!!!!!!

I forgot to mention too that since we will be driving and have room, I will bring my cooler and buy a couple of cases of gatorade, what flavor do you think is the safest, original?

angie

Ooooo, does this mean we get to make requests?????? :rotfl2: A fresh pair of legs would be great! ;) As long as it's not Gatorade Endurance formula I'm great--that stuff tears up my insides!

A big thank you again for all you guys! Even now, I get all weepy thinking of how much you are sacrificing and are willing to do for us! It means the world to me--I know how much it meant during my first marathon to have my kids cheer me on at mile 20-something. It gave me that oomph I needed to finish. Just knowing that you will all be there at the YC/BC will be enough to get me there and your energy will get me to the finish! Thanks again!

I still haven't decided where I'm going to be scream teaming from this year. Mike and I were at Expedition Everest last year and then we went over and cheered again from the Beach Club ( We're in Judy's picture. I'm behind her in the blue shirt. Mike is hiding behind me.)
We had a lot of fun cheering on runners last year :cheer2: - I'm excited to do it again. Since Mike is running the full this year, I'll be on my own. I know I want to see him in several locations - :confused3 just haven't decided my plan yet.
Hopefully we'll have time to discuss my viewing stategy before the POP meet on Friday.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in just a few short days. :goodvibes

I want to be sure that I say than you now. I'm sure I will be struggling and appreciate everyone who will be supporting the WISH Team!

OK I'm going to HAVE to find a way to be at WS#2 from 6 to 9, then at the YC to Scream Team, then at the finish line to see my husband finish his first marathon! How? I don't know, but I'll find a way. I can NOT miss the excitement that will be the WISH Scream Team at the YC. :yay:  :woohoo:

BTW, I look rather subdued in those pics. I spent a lot of time jumping up and down waving my sign, basically acting like a nut. You know, the usual. :upsidedow

Green Cowbells.

My local Target had 8 left; I'll bring them to the Pop Meet for you guys. See you Friday. :wave2:

:thumbsup2 Who's providing the Kitchen Sink?
