trying to pick a day(s) for Universal day visit (AP) & HHN in Oct. trip...yes, it's very early; just trying to determine if i need to purchase MYW tix, etc. (both trying to save some $s & that obsessive/compulsive Disney side of my personality lol)

search not working for me:headache: ; mac explained briefly...however, i'm slow & not quite wrapping my brain around the concept/experience...

please explain scream & stay/stay & scream? before HHN to me:confused:

is the main benefit that by remaining in the park (where-ever that may be??) you get a jump-start/are deeper into the park to get to the haunted houses earlier?

wondering:

*how long do you wait?

*where?

*any organized activies?

*shops & dining open?

if anyone could direct me to good link for beginners re HHN it'd be a big help:goodvibes

Janet -

Stay and Scream is wonderful and a must do!

If you're in the park before regular closing and have a valid ticket for HHN, you can stay in the holding area. Last year it was in the Boneyard between Jimmy Neutron and Twister. I think Mac and I waited about 50 mins or so before the first house opened. You get to do whichever house they open first...last year it was the Nightmare on Elm Street house and the line is almost non-existant. Then...you can head to whatever house you want and will beat the lines outside.

Mac and I are experts and would love to answer any questions you might have! :thumbsup2

Can anyone tell me what the latest is you can get into Universal for Stay N Scream? I have heard 4:30 and I have heard 5:00. This is a real issue for me since Universal daycare does not open until 5:00p.m. I don't understand why they don't have earlier daycare available during HHN. Anyways I just may need to stay at Disney The night of HHN to take advantage of Disnrys daycare which opens at 4:00. I think I can make it their by 5:00p.m. but not 4:30p.m.

I think 4:30 is a good bet...you don't want to get trapped in a slow moving line and get turned away once you get to the gate. BUT...if they do what they did last year at IOA, you could get in through a gate in Seuss Landing. IOA was open until 7pm last year. It's not technically S & S but you enter through a back way and still miss the huge lines out front. They sold a $10 after 5pm ticket to IOA...unless you have an AP which is no problem at all.

i'm getting a mental picture of being corralled in a pen with hundreds of other peeps:confused3 embarrassingly, very claustraphobic-especially in large "close" crowds:guilty: (i go out of my way to avoid getting caught on main st in MK after parades/ fireworks :rolleyes1 looks like a stampede)

however, when you refer to the boneyard (whatever that is-decorated area?) between jimmy neutron & twister - as i recall that's a pretty big area - room to breathe.popcorn::

did the secret gated area (how cool does that sound lol); take you right into the Stay & Scream area?

So I may be able to get in all the way up to 7:00 through Seuss landing? This may not be a fact though right? I will just have to leave Disney and hope to get in the gates by 5:00. The only problem is that sometimes it takes 30 minutes to just get out of Disney!!

The holding area is HUGE...it's where the Mardi Gras concerts are staged. Last year they had midway games set up and that helped pass the time.

The wait really isn't that long. The back entrance brings you out by the holding area.

Nothing is for sure yet...The HHN website won't be active until sometime in June but you should have plenty of time to plan...so no worries.

Corralled is technically correct, but maybe too strong a word. It's nowhere near as crowded as the rest of the park will be later in the night--plenty of personal space. Bars and carnival games are open, and people just kind of mill around until the first house opens, then it's just a standard line.

The benefit of seeing the first house early is huge. The benefit of not getting caught in mile-long lines to go through the metal detectors and get into the park may be even better.

Don't forget Finnagans has been used also ,they have food and drink and
entertainment.

If you are worried about your Stay and Scream ticket being valid if you enter late, then no worries. You can use a Stay and Scream ticket anytime to enter HHN even at 9:00 PM. But if you want to get the jump on the crowd, then you need to be inside the park before it closes for the regular hours but before HHN opens. Some years the park has closed at 6:00 for regular guests and then opened at 6:30 for HHN. So if that is the case, you'e need to be in the park before 6:00 PM. Since we don't know the exact closing time yet, you may need to wait until closer to HHN when we get the actual park hours and the actual HHN hours. Some times for HHN, I would come to the parks a few minutes before closing for the regular day, then I'd go get something to eat, and wait there for them to open for HHN.

The advantage to the Stay and Scream is that it is cheaper than a regular HHN ticket. If you have a park ticket that day and stay for HHN rather than leaving the park, it gives you a jump on the crowd and saves having to go through the long metal detector lines. If you have claustophobia, the crowd trying to enter the park is much worse than the crowds in the holding areas for HHN.

i'm going to universal for a day during our 2 week holiday to disney & want to go to one of the hhn. we're planning on arriving early in the morning so that we can make a day of it & then try & get to do everything. i think we're going to buy our day ticket to universal the morning we get there so can we buy our stay & scream ticket at the same time as our day ticket when we get there that day? so then we have it the whole day ready for the evening which will then allow us to stay & beat the crowds?

 can AP holders purchase the stay & scream tix or would the online discounted tix be the best deal...as i recall they were offered @ a substantial discount last year for many Sun-Thursday nights...somewhere in the area of $30?

it would be great to be able to dine @ finnegans while waiting for festivities to begin (wonder if they take ressies during that time frame?)

This is what we did every time we went to HHN last year. It was great, we got to Finnegan's around 4ish, had a good meal, got our HHN tix scanned and headed over to A Nightmare on Elm St as soon as it opened. I hope Finnegan's is a S&S area again this year, it worked out great for us!

Here's a pic I took while staying and screaming at Finnegan's

The Stay and Scream tickets are usually the same price as the AP discounted tickets.

So if I have a 7 day anytime park ticket, can I still get the stay and scream ticket versus a regular HHN...I am a little confused.

David

Yes, but you would have to buy it at the park. You can't order it online since you already have your ticket.
