Okay, so I'm looking to the pros......

I have searched high and low for a scrappin' retreat for me and the girls, but everything I turn up doesn't seem to pan out. There are 4 of us, all with kids (or grandkids), and all work full time......and we NEED time away. Not that long ago we heard people talking about these and we thought they were crazy, now we NEED to find one for us. Where are some of the best places to look? We've found some that look really cool, but they find out no store will be available....is that normal? Maybe we're just ab-normal, but none of us seem to plan to well at this point. We're all fairly new at this, maybe a yr to 2 involvement at this point. We love going to Archiver's (of LSS) becuase of the convinience, but would love to stay for the weekend! We're were hoping to stay close enough to home, but not too close (the mom's out there know what I'm getting at). We found one in Indy, that sounded perfect for us, but a couple of the ladies thought maybe we could find one closer to out home here in KC, MO (less than a 3 hour flight/13 hr drive). Can anyone offer any advice? I would be most thankful!

Have you Googled scrapbooking vacations/retreats? I know of a few companies that do this, but only here on the east coast. My sister and I just came back from one this weekend!:cool1: They have the greatest vendors. Also, do you have a local scrapbook store?? Maybe they can help you out with a company?

Hello --
If you are willing to travel, Dream Events, Inc. does weekends closer to the East Coast. A group of us have attended them at various locations and really have a GREAT time. They have a good amount of vendors. They call themselves SDV (Scrapper's Dream Vacations). Their website is Dreameventsinc.com.

A few years ago our group started SCV's (Scrapper's Cheap Vacations). I ended up being the 'cruise director'. We've done local hotels and B&B's near scrapbook stores. The best time we had was renting an entire B&B for 3 nights in Hershey, PA. If you have someone who has the time to make a few calls, having your own weekend is a fun option.
Good Luck!

I know here in MN there are several. My sister has gone to some at state parks. Some of the state parks have lodges that you can rent really cheap. PM if you want me to come up with some names. I would think there must be something closer to your area.

Try joining up to Scrapshare.com. They have a forum for retreats and get togethers. They may have something planned there. Just go in and introduce yourself. They always have a lot of info to share!

All of a sudden we have tons of scrap book stores in our area. They are all starting to do things to out do the others and get our business!!
One store is having an all day bus trip to several other stores where there will be goodie bags and make and takes. Not to mention prizes on the bus. And the biggie for me.......Another local store is sponsoring a 3 night cruise. down to Mexico. (We live on the west coast.) My girlfriend and I just put our deposits down yesterday.:woohoo:
What I am getting at is, call all the stores in a 25 mile or so area and ask if they are sponsoring or would they be willing to sponsor a retreat or something. Depending where you live, you may have to broaden that area. We have 6 shops within 8 miles of me. So we are pretty lucky.
Good luck, I hope you find something fun!

thanks for the options. I've taken a look at the SDV website and this looks like something we may be interested in.
