Yeah, they rarely hit Orlando with any force - except Hurricane Charlie in 2004 - I was living in Orlando then and it took out every tree, balcony, and fireplace chimney at my apartment complex. Happy to be in a concrete block house nowQuinn222 said:Orlando ispretty far inland. A lot of us here in FL evacuate to Orlando when one is coming. Even if a storn is headed right for there it has to pass over a good bit of land before it hits there so it loses some steam. They are never fun but it's one of the safest places to be.

I know what you mean! We live about 1 & 1/2 hours away and my friend who is going lives in Orlando. I was just going to drive over for one day and meet her, but DH is making it my birthday present so he and I will make a weekend out of it! I wanted to stay 2 nights so we decided to stay at Pop. I really wanted to stay on-site but we just cannot swing it financially. Still, it's a weekend at Disney combined with scrapbooking - how can you go wrong? For me I get to add in time away with my hubby and it's my birthday - woohoomishoe01 said:I'm considering doing this for the 1st time this year.....have to decide if I want to do the local package (which I SHOULD do) or with the hotel stay (what I WANT to do)![]()
