To all those past DCL cruisers who are scrapbook maniacs like myself...what are some of the things u've collected to use in your cruise scrapbooking? :earboy2:

When I am @ Disney I save everything from cups/plates/napkins/reciepts...all of which have wonder Disney graphics on them. Is there any of this stuff on board?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!! :flower1:

I'll start by saying I'm not a scrapper, but dd is starting. WDWLVR (Mary) gave us ideas before the last cruise on what to collect and I'll give you an idea what we have....(btw, I bought a plastic case at walmart--plastic case with a hole at one end for a handle, clips closed and you can use the top as a writing surface--to protect things on the trip home)

all navigators (not the ones i used, I got fresh ones each day from guest services)
all kids navigators
card that reminds us to set our clock back or forward one hour
the door hanger/room service menu
our meal tickets
the letter you get about rebooking another cruise
a card from DVC
the card from the captain saying "hope you enjoy this lithograph from ducky williams"
a DVC christmas card with goofy on it
my reminder cards from palo
the invitation to the castaway club reception
our kttw cards
a DVC "thanks for coming to the member celebration" card

hth

I took the 2 postcard and the stationary and envelopes to use as backgrounds. I grabbed a couple of extra Donald luggage tags and will see about using another eyelet to attach to a page.

The best thing that I got on our cruise last month was an old directory...free of charge! :) They were giving them out at the gift shop since they had recently replaced them.

i kept EVERYTHING that came our way...

KTTW cards
all navigators
the pirates' menu
the sail-away DCL head tiara my DD6 got
confettis from the "till we meet again" night
kids club navigators
karaoke request slips
tea with wendy ticket
dining rotation tickets
gingerbread house making reminder card
a couple of postcards from the shops
DCL luggage tags
pastry doillies for background

my scrapbook is becoming bulkier and bulkier....i also brought home 3 very small sea shells from st. maarten and used tacky glue to glue it on to my "st maarten" page. turned out nice!

when you are scrapbooking....everything counts! hey you'll never know when that pastry doilly will come in handy on a page!

I have used, in addition to the above:

Cutouts from the folder my cruise Docs came in
Stickers from excursions
Any notes we receive during the cruise
stamps from castaway cay
postcards from castaway cay

DW collects these items, among many others, for the scrapbook:

1) the embarkation photo taken upon boarding...she uses acid free glue and affixes it to the inside front cover of the scrapbook
2) the room service door hanger for breakfast
3) The thank you card after dining at Palo
4) She reserves a special place for Castaway Cay day in the scrapbook for the postcard we send from the post office there....we usually receive it about a month later
5) DW creates an entire page for the towel animals - thus,we take a good picture of each night's when we return to the stateroom for the evening...

I haven't been yet, but plan to get the different luggage tags from guest services. I've read here that they have different characters and hoping they will make good items for the scrap book. I think these are available on the last night.

They also now have a Scrapbook Kit called Florida Vacation (or words to that effect) that has cutouts and pages with the ship. I did not see it until Saturday the 22nd at Animal Kingdom so it may be brand new.

One cruise, I photographed the farewell show in the atrium - and then downloaded the handsigns from a sign language dictionary to use on the last page.

I have used one each of the debarkation luggage tags on the last page.

This last cruise, I took pictures of our party sleeping, all over the ship. Now, if I could just find a print copy of the advertisement where the dad says he has a lot to do too, and then you see him sleeping, all over the ship.

Autographs, both character and CM, pictures of food, tender ticket, coaster, castaway club invitation, clean paper napkin with logo, bandana from pirate night, card that came with the flowers from my friend Sandi. . .

Thanks for the idea about the sign language LindaBabe!!! That will be a great touch to our cruise scrapbook since DS & I went this time. :) I have been working on scanning all the autographs too. That is going to be the very best way to title those pages.

I used everything that I could get my hands on - including paper coasters from the Contemporay Resort that were in the bathrooms. I was lucky to get some red and black scrapbook paper with mickey heads on it and they matched perfectly. For the cruise on the last evening right in front of the service desk are containers with all the luggage tags with all the characters on them. I took a handful of each so I still have a ton of them. I got the free directory too - I cruised in November and assumed that they were getting ready to roll out this year's. I also put our scarf from Pirate night in the scrapbook and I didn't put the menu in there but there is a nice pocket at the back of the book that you can put other mementos in. I had a blast putting my scrapbook together and we have looked at it a bunch of times since I put it together a few weeks ago.

Just yesterday I finally finished our cruise scrapbook from our cruise in June. It was only a 3 night cruise, and I am totally amazed at how thick it is. I wish I had thought to pick up some of the other luggage tags...even though, now that I think of it, I forgot to put in the luggage tag that we did use! Oh well, I guess I'll have to do that the next time we cruise!

i was able to put the pirates' menu on my scrapbook as a two page spread. i even used the gold coins the kids got from kids club that evening. it turned out nice! i almost used the chocolate coins that were left on the beds but decided not to, it might melt one day.

the streamers that were being tossed during the sail-away party! my DSs (2 & 4) grabbed them as they were flying around, coming down, and were tossing them around in their hands. really cute sight! and added it for my sail-away party page! :flower:

In addition to all the great ideas everyone else has contributed here's another. Either take a scrapbook page with you or when you buy the DCL scrapbook kit in the gift shop use a page from there; take it to dinner one night and have your dining room staff sign it. Have your room steward sign a page, any CM that you come across that you enjoyed, have them sign the page (a la school yearbooks). You then use those signed pages as backgrounds for the pictures you take of those CMs and you with those CMs! OH! Also, take the blank pages with you when you get character photos done, have the character sign the page (instead of or in addition to an autograph book), use that page to put the picture on... you get the idea.

I also took pictures of our door and our door signs. Photograph everything! Save every scrap of paper that comes your way...tickets, notes, navigators etc.

HTH,

I have the cutout of the "sandcastle" from the DCL brochure and bought some "sand" paper . It is going to look great with the photos of us on Castaway Cay. I'm almost done cruise #2 - just in time for our trip next month! We also got a memory box delivered to our room and the DCL ribbon that was tied around it looks great in my cruise #1 scrapbook.

Have fun with it - everything is scrapbook worthy!
