I have a question about scrapbooking...

I LOVE to scrapbook, and I will be going down to WDW in October with my best friend and i heard about the scrapbooking store in downtown disney. We are staying at Saratoga Springs, so getting downtown wont be a problem. My question to all of you is:

I'm expecting the prices of Disney Scrapbooking stuff to be pretty high, can anyone tell me what the prices are like, and what kind of scrapbook stuff i can find down there?

Also, are there any other good scrapbook supplies stores around any of the theme parks?

we only have 3 1/2 days down there, and i dont want to waste anytime.

thanks a bunch in advance!

If you are staying onsite, most of the resorts have scrapbooking stuff in their stores. Many of the big stores in the parks (like the Emporium (sp?) in MK) have stuff too. I don't think the prices are any higher than at our local craft stores for Disney items. I have found stickers, brads, punches, paper, 3-D die cuts, regular die cuts, etc.

You can buy packs of pages that include several sheets of decorated paper, plain paper, stickers, and frames for around $15 each. The sticker packs run different prices and the only ones I can remember were $5 a box. I bought each of the sets they had so that ran quite a bit of money :teeth: . Next year I will ship everything home instead of trying to carry it home. That stuff gets really heavy!!

Have fun buying all the cool stuff they have!!

Just thought I would add in my opinion. I was really excited about the scrapbook store until I got there. Then I was really disappointed. I found more Disney stuff at my local craft stores. The stuff was more than what I could find locally and they didn't have a big selection at all. I got a couple of things that I knew I wouldn't be able to find elsewhere (Mickey ears crop scissors). The worst part is they had all of the same selection at the gift shop in Pop Century. I just didn't want anyone else to be disappointed like I was.

I hate to be a downer, but I was so dissapointed when I went to the scrapbook store in DD. The items they had were pretty basic and not any different than what you would find at your resort. Unless anyone noticed a huge change since this past Dec then I would say stick with your resort and save yourself a trip.

I agree with the last 2 posters. I think the selection in my local stores is better, as well as the price. the only advantate to buying the stuff at WDW, is that is actually says "Walt Disney World" or "Epcot" rather than the stuff at home which might just say "Disney" or "Mickey Mouse." If I'm going to spend a little more, I just buy the Disney stuff from Creative Memories; it's a little less than the items in the parks, but maybe a little nicer than what I can find in my home stores.
One another note, I was able to get a Disney bear scrapbook pack (normally $15) for $2.50 at the bargain store at Downtown Disney. I'm still not sure exactly how I'm going to use it, but for $2.50, I couldn't say no! If you're going to head over to DTD, I'd say check the stuff out...

The only good thing about the scrapbook store in DD is that it pretty much has all the scrapbook stuff in one place. Don't worry if you can't get there, you can pretty much find the same items throughtout the stores in the parks and resort shops. :thumbsup2

I too was disapointed in the selection at the scrapbook store at DTD - actually you can get ALL the same stuff at World of Disney store (also at DTD) or at your resort gift shop (well they don't have everything but they usually have a decent selection of stuff) I do like the paper packs for $15 that come with stickers, frames and a variety of paper depending on theme of the pack. So you may want to look at your resort gift shop before trecking over to DTD. Also if you are planning on going to DTD you might save yourself time and just go to World of Disney for EVERYTHING.

Thank you for all of your replies! This helps a lot!

Now... how about the photopass option... have any of you done that? For 99 bucks and 300 photos, it seems like a winner! My friend and i are thinking about spliting the cost and going ahead with the option.... what are your thoughts on the photopass?

I bought a scrapbook set at Pop for $15.00. I found that I used some of the things, but not as much as I thought I would. Have you seen the nice products that the Creative Memories company has available? They ahve a bnice 12 x 12 book, as well as sticker packs and done with one packs. I think I would have been just as happy with that in the long run.

As for the photopass, all of the cm's took pictures for us on our digital camara, which ended up being just as good as theirs. We ended up buying the photo movie instead of buying the photo cd. Our son loves the movie and it is nice to have since our video camara quit on us during the trip. Have fun on your trip and preserving your memories:)

there is a store at the market place that has everything scrapbooking the prices where not that bad. for example i bought a scrapbook the book of backgrouds 4 starter kits 3 packs of stickers 2 word say stickers and it was about 120 dollars the scrapbooks range in price i have the new one for 2006 that one was 24 i have a black leather on with the castle on it that was 32 and on with tink on it that was 28 sticker quotes are 4 stickers of character are3 and tags are2.50 thats all the stuff i found with prices on them

On my last trip I went to one of the disney outlet stores and I got a ton of disney scrapbook stuff for a really good price. I thought it was mostly discontinued stuff but I saw most of it in my local craft store for double what I paid.

As a huge scrapbooker I travel around to many shows and crops and always want new ideas and materals. We go to Disney 2 times a month and I was just as disapointed in there selection. :sad2:

There are also scrapbook supplies at the big store in EPCOT.
I found that they had the same supplies as the DTD store.

Scrapbook time is my favorite time!!! :flower:

I found paper and sticker sheets at the CBR when we went 2 years ago...and my mom bought this little stencil kit that is USELESS...the stencils are so small that you can't get a marker or anything in the hole to trace the letters and when you do manage to do that, the letters end up looking too stiff and ridiculous or all mashed together. I get most of my stuff at AC Moore (acmoore.com) and Joann Fabrics (joanne.com). AC Moore just opened a whole endcap at the store near me that has literally a ton of Disney stuff. Most craft stores also sell paper packs...I found a bunch of different pack at Michael's Crafts last year (I don't if they have a web address or not)

Here is another vote for Creative Memories....As far as the actual scrapbook and tools that is basically all I use. I have tried others, but just like the quality

I love scrapbooking, and am "planning" my scrapbook for our first family trip in June. In May Creative Memories came out with a bunch of Disney stuff. A Pooh paper pack, a Mickey paper pack, a ears shape maker and a Mickey 12X12 album. They already had a 7X7 album. I was showing a friend this past week the new items and even noticed they added a new "Persona" design - Mickey ears. I love it and decided on the spot that is my new album!

I am looking forward to checking out the DTD scrapbook offerings. But I am glad I have a firm grasp of what I can get thru CM and home. It is not my only reason to go to DTD (My two 5 year olds wanting to go to the HUGE Disney store is the reason :) )

I was also disappointed with the selection. I did buy a 12x12 book that said "Walt Disney World" on it...I think it was $28...and a pack of the papers that had the actual park names/logos for $15. Everything else, I think you can do better elsewhere. We found pretty much all the same things from the Scrapbook store in our CSR hotel gift shop!

As a visitor from the UK I thought it was wonderful for scrapbooking supplies, reading some of these posts makes me think how bad scrapbooking supplies are here... :sad2: lol

Some of the things I thought were nice, were the mickey ear scissors for around 10 dollars, we got a paper pack for about 15 dollars which had pages with its a small world and thunder mountain themes which were cute. Also there were smaller themed type (rides and things) packs for around 15 dollars. Also some smaller scrapbooking items like stickers and other bits. But maybe you can find better supplies in the US I dont know of :confused3.

Enjoy the trip :teeth:

We bought the CD...we only had 101 pictures on it but we really thought it was worth the money. I liked having the option of printing as many pics as I needed. I made 2 scrapbooks (one for each DD) and have a complete set of our pictures 101 photpass and 579 of our digital ones in an album for me & DH.

I'm sort of glad to hear this about the scrapbook store at DTD, I never went in there and have wondered what I missed. I did buy 2 sets of the paper that another poster talked about and some HCOE stickers at the World of Disney. The rest of my supplies came from Michael's & Hobby Lobby.
