Hi, I want to subscribe to a magazine for scrapbooking and was wondering what everyone here was using and why you like it. There are a few out there and I don't know which one to get? Help!

I've thought about this from time to time as well. But have decided that no one magazine consistently has info I find valuable. So from time to time I just browse through them at my local Barnes & Noble and pick up those that seem to have ideas I might use.

I had Creative Keepsakes for a year and although I loved it and thought I would subscribe again it turned out to be full of to much artsy stuff even for me. I love all of the different techniques , but in my day to day scrapping I'm a lot less "artsy". Simple Scrapbooks is good, but I wish it came out each month. I have never seen Paperkuts but some say they are good. I'm leaning more towards Memory Makers which was the first scrapbook magazine I ever brought. They seem to balance both artsy with simple. I would suggest checking them all out first , and than deciding on a subscription after a few months.

Scrapbook etc. MY FAVORITE!!!!! I also just subscribed to memory maker but I am not so sure about that one yet. They are so much cheaper when you subscribe That is why I chose to subscribe the one I just got had nothing good in it.

I also am a big fan of the Better Homes and Gardens Scrapbook Etc. If you call for a subscription right now you can ask for the 2 years for the price of 1 deal and you get both years for $24.

I really like Simple Scrapbooks magazine. I subscribe to all of them and this is the one I like the most. I have found lately that
many of the magazines are making the layouts so busy, and so
complicated that not only do they take too much time to do, but
it loses the whole purpose behind scrapbooking--because in many
of these layouts they have embellished so much you can't even see the photos anymore! I do like the embellishments and can
pare down the ideas to suit my style so I have kept getting the
magazines, but when the renewals start coming I will be giving more thought to what I will continue with. I believe less is more on a layout and you can still make great pages using some of the
techniques...but really who has a week to complete a page, I know I don't...I'm still trying to find a way to make a day longer than 24 hours :) Have a great Monday!

Hi Kim,

Do you happen to know if there is a website for the Simple Scrapbook magazine? I might be interested in subscribing to this magazine.

Thanks & Happy Monday to you too!:wave2:

the Creating Keepsakes site.

HOWEVER>.....Whatever you do...DON"T PAY FOR IT WITH A CREDIT CARD ON LINE!!!!

The company they use is AWFUL! I am still waiting for my CK...and I subscribed in NOVEMBER! Our Simple Scrapbooks for Dec. came last week. It is a mess.

I am not the only one this is happening to.

Have them bill you, and only pay when you actually get the magazine in your hand.

I will never get a subscription to either of those again. The small savings over buying with a coupon at Jo-Ann or Michaels isn't worth the aggrivation. I have made way too many phone calls with way too little satisfaction.

You get your mags at close to the subscription price & you can compare to decide which one will appeal to you long term

I do subscribe to Scapbooks Etc & Creating Keepsakes. I usually buy Simple Scapbooks with the coupon.

I used to subscribe to Memory Makers - with their subscription you get 2 or 3 "special" issues (Idea Gallery, Top 50 Scrapbooking Trends & I think 1 other). I stopped because I found their issues were real hit or miss for me.

I will probably let my CK subscription run out because I can get my favorite articles online (like Becky Higgins One Sketch...)

had subscriptions to
Creatink Keepsakes
Memory Makers
and BHG Scrapbooks Etc..

The one I got the most USE out of - the only one that I am renewing is the BHG Scrapbooks Etc,
the others I will use my 40% off coupon at Mikes when I flip through and find something really interesting to me -
but I also have NO desire to get into some of the stuff they do (I started to and it was taking me 3 days to get a layout done - lol!)

I subscribe to Creative Keepsakes and I am NOT renewing my subscription...way too artsy fartsy for me. :p

Wow, thanks! I was going to subscribe to Creating Keepsakes, but now I'm glad I didn't!
I will do as some of you suggested, go out and read them in Barnes and Noble and only buy the ones I like. Then subscribe in a few months to the ones I consistantly buy. That's a really great idea I didn't think of!
Thanks everyone!

Hi Patti,

Thanks for the info. I'm going to check out the site now but I'll be sure not to pay online!! I can't believe you just got your December magazine!! UGH! Just a little late!

UI subscribe to CK and SImple Scrapbooks. I use CK mostly to check out noew products and techniques but the layouts are way to overdone for my taste. I use SS for layout suggestions and ideas. I wish SS came out every month!!! I am usualyl going CRAZY by the time the new issue arrives! I used to subscribe to Memory Makers but was getting too many mags and while I liked it, out of the 3 it was my least favorite so it ogt the axe.

I have heard good things about paper Cuts, Ivy Cottage and the Better Homes magazines. but dont personally get them.

I get CK and SS- I like both mainly for the basic ideas- Alot of CK is as someone said "artsy fartsy" but I do steal a few ideas here and there- SS is good too but it doesnt come that often :)

Ive been getting CK since it began and its amazing to see the changes :)
