Scrapbook album?

Newbie here! I've gotten lots of great layout ideas for our WDW scrapbook. (Just got back, trying to overcome the Disney Blues ) I've never tried one before. I need to start with a good solid album. We were there for 12 days so there will be lots of pages. I went to our Michael's and AC Moore and was overwhelmed by the choices. Any suggestions? Thanks to everyone that post pics and ideas. You've definitely helped me. TIA

I use only CM scrapbooks - I know some don't like them because you tend to scrap in order in them, as its harder to shift the order of pages about- but there's no rule that says you have to scrap in order, is there?

When I wanted to start, i was so confused by hobby stores (What is that? Do i need it? What would I use it for ) I had a Cm party which got me started - by signing myself up as a CMC

Its a good way to get lots of basic cutters and stuff at a discount, but others will have other opinions. Whatever you choose, your $$ will never be comfy in your purse again

For top loading albums, I use Pioneer, you can find those at most craft stores. I also have a few from WDW but they are not holding up well. Make sure you note what kind of album you get though before you take the label off. That way you will know what brand refills to buy.

I like the Pioneer albums too. I used to use CM, but I don't like being so limited as to order.

I love my CM albums. I find them easier to load that a top loader and I bought a Pioneer which wasn't the same quanlity. What I do with my CM albums is that I don't tack the page so I can move it later. The only thing this wouldn't work with is a page that has the 10 x 12 paper.

I have used the CM Disney scrapbook - 1 larger one and 1 smaller, both are red. I am not sure what the previous posters are referring to when they talk about doing pages in order, because mine are not that way. I do have to admit these albums are great and I love the strap that keeps them together.
For some scrappers having your pages already organized is great - I tend to be more spontaneous and do not use page guides.
You're right, it is a tough decision but take your time, relax and make it a wonderful experience (hopefully involving other family members too.)

Thanks for the advice. I do remember seeing the Pioneer Brand in my dazed state at the craft store. I will look at the Creative memories albums online. I just want to get one that will hold up and one that I can find refills for! I know I'll be putting in more pages than it originally comes with! I've already started putting together pages! This is gonna be fun!!!

I usually scrap in order, but my memory at times is faulty. I always scrap on solid cardstock or directly on a CM page since I am not a fan of patterned backgrounds. I've found that adhering cardstock pages to CM pages doesn't work well - they never stay on well enough for me so I scrap directly on the pages leaving me to have a good memory or an out of order album

You might want to try the increasingly popular top-loading albums that you can find at Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joanns etc.
I like the Disney-themed albums made by EK Success and Sandylion. They have really cute Disney covers (lots of styles), toploading pages which let you move around your pages as much as you want and are good quality.
Also you can buy them with 40% off coupons so they are very inexpensive.

When looking for an album I tend to really look at the spine of the book. is it sturdy? How does it expand? If it expands by sliding then you will see your holes at some point. so I tend to like the ones that pop in or out like CM. But I use an album called Forever yours. Usually I have to order them.
Also look at how you want to scrap. If you like total order....and haven't kept everything in order...then top loading is easy. You can move them around.
If you like to scrap out of order but know you want your books in order then you could use a 3 ring binder. If you can't stand trimming your paper down then you need to stay away from CM or Pioneer that have the pages in it.
Also I look at the corners of the books. I like them to be slightly rounded. This way if you do bump the edges you will do less damage.
Finally, if you like lumpy and bumpy then look at the page protectors. Open the book up and see how the pages are. If it lays flat and has some give then you will have more space. Also I like the protectors that have and extra space between the holes and the actual pocket. This style tends to lay flat when opened.
