Scotter questions

I have read months worth of posts and learned a lot, but I still have a few questions.

My Brother-in-law is heading to DW with us in late Oct. He has hip issues and wants to pick up a scooter as we enter the parks so he can scoot when his hips protest too much. Can I arrange/reserve a scooter at each park each day? From what I've read here, it seems it's first come... He wants no part of using a scooter at our resort(Saratoga Springs) or on buses, so reserving one through a third party is out.

So can I reserve a scooter for length of stay at the parks where I have reservations each day? Or can I at least reserve each morning before we get to the park?

Thanks

Parks are first come first served. can not reserve for length of stay. and they have run out in the past with only wheelchairs to rent. one thing to remember that park ones can not go out the gates to the buses at the end of the day

Thanks! That kind of what I understood. Just checking.
something to think about nothing says he has to drive scooter on and off bus or at the resort. have one of your group ride it to the park then you have it when needed. I would still go with the off site rental so you know you have one when needed and it can go outside the park gate and end of night plus having a place to sit and wait for your transportation. also most offsite rentals are cheaper

If you stick with doing a park scooter then you need to arrive to the park at park opening; it's the safest way to make sure you get one. You need to wait in line for one. In most instances this is the same area for stroller rentals; so, it takes a little time to get a scooter.

Also, if you leave the park for a break and come back later you are not guaranteed a scooter when you come back. If one is available it's okay but that does not happen all the time. The same problem occurs if you park hop. The next park may not not have one available.

I will admit it's not easy to scooter on and off Disney transportation. If someone else in your group is willing to do this part then it would be less stressful. Also, depending on the resort and your location it can be a trek to get to Disney transportation. At the end of the day it's really nice to be on a scooter waiting to get back to your resort.

Just a thought, but maybe find a rental company that rents a folding mobility scooter. Then you could fold the scooter up to take it on/off the stroller. My sister owns one, but my cousin rented one from a company with regal in the name.

The version my cousin rented wasn’t as easy to maneuver in the folded position as my sister’s personal. They had another version that looked like it would be easier to maneuver when folded. I didn’t ask why she chose the one she did, but it was probably the basket.

Or you can always walk the rental scooter onto transportation - it’s what I do with my personal one from time to time…
