Last year was my older daughter's 13th birthday and my mom and I took her on a special surprise trip to OKW to celebrate. It was only 4 days, but we had so much fun and made her feel so special.

Well, my younger daughter will be 13 in June this year. (They're only 15 months apart.) We had originally planned a trip for her in March while she still had use of her AP that expires end of March. But airfares are horrendous, we've been watching for 6 months. On a whim I started researching other options for the coming months. For various reasons, May looks good.

So, I called MS and was able to score a studio at OKW, just what I wanted and at only 3 months out. Then we scored amazing airfares, too. AND, perhaps the most exciting part, silly, I know, the flight down is direct!!! (That NEVER happens from Omaha, ever.) So we'll leave here about 8am and arrive by noon in Orlando. Off to MK for lunch. HA! I still can't believe it!

Now, on to pulling off the surprise reveal...

A little background info...we are a family of 6, so normally we drive the 24 hours, saving ourselves easily $600 to $1000, depending on current airfares. Also, because our family is a little bigger, it's extra exciting for them to have their own special vacation. They really love the attention and control of the day.

DS16 had a sports trip. Went to a Vikings football game, a Twins baseball game and shopping at the Apple Store at Mall of America. He loved it.

DD14 (well, she will be in a couple of weeks!), her February birthday prompted a more tropical locale. Not a fan of driving 6 hours by myself north to Minneapolis. Yes! Let's go to WDW! OKW was lovely as always. We did MK EMH twice, something we hardly ever do. We arrived at MK on our arrival night at 10pm and literally sprinted to BTR to see if we could get in line and ride it once. hahahhahahhhah!!!! Line was 5 min and we rode it 4 times, plus rode SM 3 or 4 times! DD had a blast. We did Tea at the GF, lunch at 50's Prime Time Cafe, breakfast at CP. Grandma bought her a tiara and she wore it with her birthday button and collected a ton of birthday wishes. She's still working on her scrapbook. She felt very special.

We have told our kids that when they turn 15, they get to pick the family trip. We have a 10, 4, 2 year old sons. We were on the Wonder in Dec, and DS10 is already thinking that another cruise is the way to go. I think that before he decides where he wants to go, he will change his mind about a million times...
