Ok, we are going to the World in October, and my mother is renting a scooter from the apple place - we have already placed the order. I have a few questions. We want to rent a van or something for going to the parks - We are a party of 6 - 4 adults and 2 kids. What type of van/SUV should we rent that will fit all of us, plus the scooter? Also, my father called the scooter rental place, and they told him that the scooter breaks down into 4 parts. Anyone have any experience with this? Will they do a demo for us when they drop it off? How hard/long does it take to break it down, and how heavy are the pieces heavy?

Lastly, I guess my parents were also told by the rental place that the scooter gets 24 miles to a charging. Is this accurate? And are there places inside Disney (Epcot, MK, etc) that you can charge your scooter incase it dies on us?

TIA!!! :wizard:

You do not need a van; what you will need is a full-size four door sedan. It will seat six people and the ECV will fit in the trunk.

They do break down easily. You take the seat off and the battery which both just pull straight up to remove. You then pull up on a lever that is just behind the seat post and at the same time lift up on the seat post to disconnect the rear wheels from the main deck. There is 2 knobs on the tiller (if it is a 3 wheel version). The little one directly above the front wheel locks the tiller from turning left to right. The larger one on the side of the tiller is for adjusting the angle of the tiller. You turn this one to drop the tiller down onto the deck of the scooter. The scooter is now ready to load into your vehicle.

I have found with mine, if you have an area behind the last row of seats in a SUV or Van, you can load the deck and rear wheels assembled. I used to do this by myself, but it is easier to do with 2 people, and saves times with assembly and disassembly.

Yes there are places in the parks to recharge the battery if you need to. If the batteries are in good shape though, you shouldn't need to charge it through out the day. Just be sure to charge it each and every night.

Most scooter batteries are a "long charge" meaning they need to be plugged in for a while to get a complete charge. You can definitely charge in the park if it dies, but make sure you plug it in every night!
