After quite a few years of renting the EVCs for my wife in the parks, I have finally talked her into getting one of her own. Besides the expense of rentals, the big advantage is having it from the car and back rather than having to hike between the disabled parking lot and the rental stations (long walk in seems twice as long back out). We're fairly local and go frequently. Portabiity is a key factor so we can put it in a truck of a car.

We have pretty much decided on a Pride Go-Go Elite Traveler. The only question we have is which battery to get, the regular size claims up to 7.2 miles on a charge and the larger claims up to 13-14 miles. I'm inclined to go with the larger battery because I'm not sure 7 miles will do for a full day around the parks and resorts. I see a lot of Go-Go scooters in the parks and was wondering in anyone has ever run out of battery before getting back to their car or resort. I would appreciate any and all input.

Thanks!

No question go with the bigger battery after a while they start to lose some power

I agree with bidnow5, the larger the better!

Another vote for bigger.

On our last WDW trip, I was able to track our daily miles on my Fitbit. We did about 6 miles a day and were really kind of taking it easy because of the others who were with us on the trip.

Thanks for the replies! Kinda confirms what I suspected.

You need to get the Traveler PLUS model. It comes with AH 18 or AH 20 batteries. Sometimes the difference you see in price is because of the batteries so be sure when pricing that you compare apples to apples. If you get these batteries, she will be able to run all day and night at WDW on a charge. I can actually get two days, but I do recommend that you charge every night.

I agree. My personal scooter is the Traveller Elite Plus, with the larger battery. I did have an issue with running low on power on its first trip, at 2 am EMH after 18 hours in the park. I have gotten religious about turning it off any time I'm sitting for more than a min or two, and have not had any problems since. But be sure to charge it every night!

The larger battery is a little more expensive, but the peace of mind knowing you are not going to get stuck in the park is worth it.

Great points on the Plus model. I see it also has an extra inch of ground clearance and rear wheels. Thanks!

My first scooter was a Pride Go-Go Elite. I was always worried my battery would run out...happened a few times if we went all day at WDW. Even if we went back to the resort mid-day, I wanted to explore the resort, not be stuck in the room letting my battery charge. I wanted a new scooter with a bigger battery & I also wanted more ground clearance & bigger wheels. I had decided on the Traveler Plus, but when we went to the scooter store, I ended up getting the Sport. It's only about $100 more & has a light & a place to plug the charger in the tiller. Definitely get a 3 wheeled...my husband convinced me to get a 4 wheel this time because he thought it would be more stable. That was a huge mistake...turning in small spaces was horrible. I was so worried about it, knowing it would be hard to get around in restaurants & bathrooms at WDW. I was about to decide to get a walker holder for my scooter so I could avoid taking it inside buildings & just use my walker. I finally called the scooter store & told them I was not happy with the 4 wheeled scooter. They let me switch it for the 3 wheeled...so much better...love it. My sister is in worse shape than me & has to use a manual wheelchair in her home & didn't really have the hand strength to roll herself. She couldn't afford a power chair so I gave her my old Go-Go. It's great for her in the house & fits through her bathroom door...her wheelchair didn't. Being able to give my old scooter to her made me feel better about getting a new one. I love the Sport & can't wait to try it out in WDW. Buying your own is a good idea if you rent one often...plus you have it for lots of uses on outings at home.
