Scooter Availibility in January

Have a trip planned in January and my wife has a bad knee that prevents walking for long distances. We have been to Disney many times over the years, but this is the first time we would need a power scooter. I know it is first come first serve in the parks, but do we have to be there at rope drop to get one? Also, what is the availability at Universal, both parks? Would renting one from an outside source be better?

Hi and to disABILITIES!

1. Most of January is a very slow season, so there should be no shortage of ECVs at any of the Parks.

2. You are much better off to rent from offsite. Both from a price and quality standpoint, as well as it is available all times (some of the Resorts have very long distances involved).

rent offsite and enjoy your whole trip...it allows me to go all over the resirt and never be in pain...arthritis in knee and back...and makes everyone in my family more comfortable not worrying about me

Renting from off site is also cheaper than renting from Disney.
