Garlic Forces Passengers From Airport
Suspicious Bag at Philadelphia Airport Is Found to Contain Garlic
The Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA Dec 1, 2005 — Dozens of passengers were evacuated into the rainy night at Philadelphia International Airport by a bomb scare. A bag being checked for an American Airlines flight set off an alarm at Terminal A-East around 7 p.m. Wednesday night.

Fire trucks and the bomb squad were called in, and the all-clear was sounded about two hours later after the baggage in question turned out to contain garlic paste.

so this is why they say not to put food in the checked luggage

I'm all for security, but mostly it seems to be a waste of time and money :(
