i don't know if this is okay to post this question or if any of you will even answer it. My mother has terrible sciatica pain and I was wondering if anyone knows of anything that will help ease the pain. I'd just like to be able to give her some hope or encouragement. Thank you

I've had two bouts of this, bad enough that I could not sleep. Both times it was my shoes. Badly and unevenly worn shoes were throwing me out of whack.

New slippers and I was back on track after a month.

You'd think I would have learned after the first time. Ended up getting an MRI... it did show some displacement in the lower back, but no longer have any pain.

If it's sudden, take a look around her environment... what could be putting her off kilter.

One trick my physical therapist taught me was to lay on the floor on the opposite side of the pain, bring both knees up to your chest and hold for about 10 seconds at a time (think of curling up in a ball on your side).

This was about the only thing that worked for me when I had one sided pain during pregnancy.

Good luck :D
