I am thinking about taking my DH and DS (5) to Sci-fi, but I cant picture in my head how 3 people are able to sit together and be able to talk while sitting in a car. DS would love to sit inside of the car, but I am afraid that one of us will be sitting in the back by ourselfs.
Can anyone tell me if this is going to be a problem for us? Does anyone know where I can see pictures of the restaurant?

Thanks,
Kris

There is a picture of this restaurant in Birnbaum's 2005 guide book and it looks like the cars have 3 seats. I can't tell if you can seat 3 across the seat. I hope so because we would like to try Sci-Fi also and there are 7 of us and I was wondering if we would be able to fit. :confused3

I'm interested in how the food is. Looks like the restaurant itself is a really cool place to eat.

We really liked it.

We're a family of 4, so our children sat in the front seat and hubby and I sat in the back. We called it a date.

They also have picnic-type tables for bigger groups, but not very many.

Have fun!

Anita

We had a regular table (facing each other) inside the car on our last trip. We went for lunch. I had a chicken sandwich and fries. No complaints!

I am a pretty easy going person - and this would be the only Disney rest. that I wouldn't go back too... although the atmosphere was great - my kids loved it - I thought the food was just okay... and it was dark - because you are "in a drive in movie theater"... anyway it didn't do much for me.... maybe if there was a chick flick playing on the big screen...lol

My DH and I loved this restaurant! We have plans to take our three children back this next trip. They would fit across one seat, but 3 adults wouldn't fit on one seat.

The advice I got was order burgers, fries, onion rings, shakes, stuff like that and it is great. We did exactly that and thought the burgers were awesome. The onion rings were even better. This was a few years ago, so I hope it is still good. We can't wait. :sunny:

great burgers & fries, DD7 had a delicious grilled vhicken breast with green beans too!

We make this a stop twice on our trips because the kids love it so much. They have had good luck with the burger, fry, coke route, but DH and I have tried other entrees and never had a bad experience yet.
As far as 3 across--maybe if they are small frame, but the cars are meant to seat 2 per row comfortably. There are lights in the "dashboards", so it isn't unbearably dark inside the cars; they just need to keep the "up lighting" very dim so you feel you are at a drive inn during the middle of the night.
It's totally cool :cool1: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

We were there on 02/09 and were a family of 5. We sat with 1 in 1st seat, then 2 in each of the other seats. My 8 year old thought it was neat eating by himself. The burgers are great but don't order the steak and cheese with onion rings. The steak is the worst I have tasted but the onion rings and shakes are the best.

This is the one thing I don't like about the Sci Fi. I always end up sitting in the front seat with my DS, and my husband sits behind us. The Sci Fi is always a must do for us because my DS loves it, but it isn't the best set up when you have three people.

This is what I'm hoping to get when we go, since there's three of us as well. I wonder if it might be possible to request it; does anyone know?

Thanks! :sunny:

hows those rows of cars at the ends? can you still see the screen?

I think all of the views from the cars would be good because the screen is HUGE (just like a drive-in) - dancing hot dogs and all! the Unofficial Guidebook that I swear by has some pretty nasty reviews of this place but we love it. It is so unique. The food is okay but the whole experience is a must even if just for snacks and a milkshake.

I would say go for lunch since the dinner food is NOT good.
The burgers are THE BEST we have had at WDW and we also loved the milkshakes.
I have never had a bad burger there and have gone quite a few times through the years.
We loved our server this last time. He was funny and right on the ball!

You won't however be able to fit three in a seat unless you are quite small.

Thanks for the help. It's good to hear that there are regular tables inside the cars as well. Does anyone know if I can request that? Are there just a few cars like that?

Thanks,
Kris

You can request a regular table, the picnic tables.

My boys both LOVED the Sci-Fi and they still have their frisbee's(kids meals were served on)a year and a half later.

I LOVED their chili, soooooo good! And the salad with bleu cheese and spicy walnuts. Mmmmmmmm. The onion rings were great too.

Daxx's wife here. We're a family of 3 and were there in July '04 and had a great time. I sat in the back seat of the car and Daxx sat w/DS in the front. I was able to lean over and chat w/them, so it wasn't so bad. We had a car that was more towards the side wall and the view was fine. I loved my chicken caesar salad, DS loved his macaroni and cheese (they had a sci-fi name for it, but forgot what it was) and Daxx had a steak and thought it was as tough as shoe leather. He was the only one who was disappointed.

DS said we're def. going back ... I suppose you can say it was a hit w/the 8 yr. old!
