I know, it's probably a crazy question. We always do Prime Time when we're there, but thinking of trying out Sci-Fi this time. I have a very "cautious" 4 y/o that will be with us on the trip. Are the movies harmless?

Also, I've read this isn't the best restaurant for large parties. We'll be a party of 10. Not a good idea?

If not, any suggestions for a sit down lunch for a party of 10, that isn't Prime Time?

thanks

We LOVE Sci-Fi. Go every time we're in the WORLD!!! Movies are not scary at all! Rather funny!! We have a party of seven going in Aug/Sept and had to book two separate tables ... we've done six all together in the past but we're one over this time! VERY cute atmosphere GO FOR ITl (We put the three teenagers at their own table to make it work.)

We ate there in November with our party of 12. They gave us 2 cars that had 3 rows and the cars were next to each other rather than front and back. They were about 4 feet apart and we were still able to talk to each other without being loud and disruptive the other cars around us. They offered us the cars that have the table between them(I can't think of what they are referred to as), but we wanted to be sitting in the cars, and it worked out well for us.

As far as the movies go, I have a four year old who is nervous around everything and she was fine. Since my mom and dad told her these were the movies they grew up watching, she kept asking them questions about them and had a hard time believing that people thought "that stuff" was scary back in the "old days" as my dd says.

Not a crazy question at all! My DD is 4 and we're going in Sept and we're booked at Sci Fi too. I'm concerned about the movies as well, probably not as much as she is though! She keeps asking me if they're scary and I tell her no. I'm hoping she does fine! I told her to keep looking at her hot dog if she gets scared.

Thanks for posting this. My DS (3) is the same way and we have ADRs for May there too - I was wondering exactly the same thing !:rolleyes1

They're silly, not scary. Your 4yo will prolly take a cue from you and see you laughing and be at ease.

My 4 year old barely even noticed the movies (too short in the car maybe?) unless there was something cute on that we pointed out to her, but nothing scared her at all (and she was afraid on POTC!) She loved the cars and had a ball.

I just asked this question to my friend that went there earlier this year in regards to my 4 y/o. She said cheesy as well and the fries and burgers were yummy. LOL

We've been every time we have visited. The last time our DD 3 was with us. We did tell her that the movies were silly (kept playing it up). The only thing is once in a while there are loud screams so you may want to prepare for that. We brought ear plugs for the fireworks or loud rides with us everywhere just in case. The clips are on a continuous like 10 min loop so you'll see repeats and can joke with the kids about them. We will have oth our DD and son (2) with us this time. You can always get the glow cubes for the drinks which are a great distraction too.
Overall it is a fun experience and they'll like sitting in the cars.
HAve fun!!

The "movies" are the old movie trailers of 1950's-early 60's "B" science fiction movies. I can remember going to the movie theater in our town and watching them with my friends. There's nothing scary about them.

Just remembered from our past visits. All...and I mean ALL...of the kids in the restaurant were transfixed on the screen (as were the adults).

Sci-Fi is prolly the quietest restaurant we've eaten at on property.::yes:: Including the alleged "romantic" Narcoossee's.

I guess my daughter(4 y.o.) will be the dissenter. She was fine with most of it but there was one short clip that did scare her a bit, but she was fine with the rest of it. My 2 y.o. wasn't fazed at all though.

We went there when my kids were 18 months, 4 yrs and 9 yrs. They totally loved it! The movies are actually funny, not scarey. There is no really scarey overtones in the movies or in the restaurant. Don't worry, you made a great choice, you'll have fun and it is very different from anything else you can go to at WDW. Have a blast!:yay:
