I have read such mixed reviews on Sci-Fi, I thought I better ask this question. Is it worth going to for lunch to split a burger and get milkshakes? We will be in Disney Studios for lunch and none of the Quick Service restaurants look very appealing to us. If it helps, we will be paying OOP.

Thanks for any advice!!

My DH and I love it there. The burger and milkshakes usually get the best reviews. So, I would say go for it! :)

There are always mixed reviews on everything at Disney. The only way to truly know is to go for yourself.

If you've never been, then yes, it's worth it to see the decor. It's a must-do for us, every trip. Make sure you make an ADR so you can get a car but even without, the atmosphere is very entertainig.

WE LOVE SCI FI!!!!!! Its one of our top restaurants! I loooove their ribs. So yummy. Their burgers and shakes are great too. I think your idea is perfect, as their burgers are massive. You could easily ask for an extra side so that you both have 1/2 burger & a side. their cucumber salad is fantastic. So are their fries. Its nice and cool in there....atmosphere is fun too. you wont regret it!! And i agree about mixed reviews on this board. the only way to find out for sure if you like a place is to try it yourself. If you dont like it, you dont have to go there again. Have fun!

Another Sci-Fi fan here! I always get a milkshake there...so yummy! We always have good food there too. I would do it. The food is great & atmosphere is so cool. :goodvibes

Thanks for all the replies!! I feel better about going there now! It just looks so much fun!! 118 Days and Counting!!:dance3:

We did just that last week. But we got cherry cokes instead of milkshakes. The food was just okay, but it is worth it to go for the dining experience. The inside of Sci-Fi is one of the coolest restaurants at WDW.

I've been several times. Sometimes it's good, sometimes not. What I will say though, is that the last time I was there for lunch (sept) there was nothing QUICK about it. Took forever. We lost some great park time. It's the last time I'll do it for lunch.

We too love Sci Fi and a trip to HS would not be complete (according to my kids anyway) without lunch there.

We split burgers and shakes and it was a great amount of food and we think the ambiance can't be beat!!

Have a great time!!

We went there for our past trip and I LOVED the milkshake. Other than that, I wasn't too impressed. DH requested a grilled cheese and they told us they were unable to make one. Seriously? He had to settle for a pizza which was AWFUL... it was very soggy and must have been microwaved. :( I don't think we'll ever return even though the atmosphere was amazing!

it's a fun place...
i thought the food was awful, but we still go just for the fun of it..

on the other hand, DD thought the food was great...the chef specially prepared a vegetarian meal for her that she said was the best she had on property....go figure...

I love Sci-Fi for lunch:thumbsup2 I could make a meal on their onion rings and shakes. It's also a great place to escape the heat.

I definitely agree with the majority of everyone. I LOVE Sci Fi!! DH got the steak and I got the ribs and we split an Oreo shake. I haven't been for lunch, but I would say it was worth it. The atmosphere is the real amazing part. When you make your ADR make sure you have them put in a note that you want to sit in one of the cars.

I love their burgers and milkshakes.

The milk shakes used to be the hand-dipped kind. Now, they are just soft ice cream, so we no longer bother going to Sci-Fi.

We are considering Sci Fi for lunch one day of our trip. I'd really like to see the inside of the restaurant and the cars look great. Question- does everyone seated in the cars face the same direction? Or can you face one another to talk? TIA!

In most of the cars, you face the screen. A few have tables and you face each other.

We ate there for the first time on Saturday night and thought it was great. I had the shrimp pasta, but subbed tofu for the shrimp and it was my favorite meal all weekend. BFF had it with shrimp and loved it as well. (I will say that it was VERY salty; I tend to salt my pasta anyways, so it was ok, but if you don't like salty food it would probably not be good.) Kids had chicken sandwiches, they had no complaints. The shakes were ok -- I love ice cream and they weren't bad, but they weren't rave-worthy either.

The atmosphere was a blast and our server was a trip. He said he'd worked there for 15 years, he had the schtick down pat, and earned a more-than-20% tip for it.
