Do you get your own car if you just have two in your dining party? It would feel weird to share a car with strangers.

Haven’t you ever wanted to pick up a hitchhiker?
well I guess that would be strange but not dangerous.
Hahaha… do people even hitchhike anymore? I remember road trips when I was a kid in the 70s. Hitchhikers were everywhere. We never picked anyone up.

NOPE

We've been drivers with hitchhikers behind us.
We've been the hitchhikers with other folks driving.
We've been one of 3 different groups of 2 sharing a car for 6.

You will be traveling with strangers.

Boo that will be icky. We’ve never dined at Sci Fi with just two. Always had our own car.

At least there are plenty of good TS options at DHS. It's the only park it is hard for us to pick where to TS dine.

I understand…
I am uncomfortable sharing the SkyLiner but not Sci Fi Haha

But if you do drive be sure to ask for your drivers license !
Bonus tip if the server brings it without reminding !
Sometimes you just get a learners permit !
And sometimes a speeding Warning…we tend to eat fast !

I don’t remember any of that from our last time there 10 years ago. I’ll make sure to ask if I end up driving.

I dined as a solo at Sci-fi a few weeks ago. Back of a car with a family in front. Honestly there was really no impact or interaction with the other party. It was considerably less awkward than Teppan Edo and Biergarten and I have done both of those solo.

We’re almost always a party of 2. I’ve never felt strange in a car with others. It’s not like you interact with them at all. It’s not much different than sitting a row behind someone in a theater. I’ve felt more uncomfortable sitting in some of the 2 tops at Le Cellier. Some of those tables are just 4 - 6 inches apart. At least that’s what they feel like.

Thanks for this. I have a reservation for 1 coming up in a few weeks and I've been toying with whether I should keep it. (This will be my first solo dining experience at WDW.)

Edited to add, we've dined as a party of 4 and had people behind us, it was fine.

I would say keep it. I think it would be a great place for a solo diner. You have the movie to keep you occupied. Most of the tables only let you interact with the person sitting right next to you anyway. And odd number groups have someone sitting in a row alone too. So it’s not like the whole restaurant is full of big group tables & you’re the only one sitting alone.

Honestly Sci-Fi is probably one of those least awkward/noticeable places for a solo. Because of the seating arrangement everyone essentially looks to be a solo or a duo. Hopefully you have as good of a server as I did.

Thank you 😊
I’ll hold onto it!

Agreed! I hate getting up to leave or to use the restroom when seated so close to others at those 2-tops at Le Cellier. I struggle with if I should give them a close-up view of my front side or my back side.

I concur with @mi*vida*loca. We were at Sci-Fi last week. My family of 4 sat in the first 2 rows of a 3-row car, and a couple was seated behind us. Although they chatted quietly with one another throughout the meal, we had no interaction with them, and their presence was not disruptive or noticeable in any way. In terms of distance, they were still way further away from us than, say, the parties at nearby tables when we ate at San Angel Inn, with whom we were practically elbow-to-elbow! ;)
