Have tried most TS rest at Hollywood Studios and they are good. 50's Primetime is a fav and we usually try Mama Melrose if we can fit it in. Tbought about Sci-fi for Sept visit... DH and I and 2 daughters, 16 and 9. We would really want the experience of sitting in the car but wouldn't 2 of us be seating with our back to the other 2? That seems like such an awkward seating arrangement for any conversation. How does this work with a party of 4? Thank you!!!!!!

We have eaten there several times as a party of 4. I don't think its awkward because its literally like being at a drive in movie. You watch the movie... and eat... so there really isn't much conversation.

Have never thought of it as awkward - as PP mentioned you are watching the movie on the big screen in front, and eating, so you don't talk much anyway. We usually each sit with one of our kids, kind do like we do on the plane, and it's time to chat with that child, or your kids might like sitting together, and then you and DH can have a mini-date! It's not difficult to turn towards the back when you want to comment to the others. It's a fun experience! Try the milkshakes!

I thought it would be more awkward than it is. I would say in any other restaurant I would hate it, but at the Sci Fi it's part of the whole theme. Anywhere else I would hate the darkness also (well, I hate it here when I'm trying to see my food, but again, it's just part of the whole experience...8-)). I sit in front with DS3 and my husband sits behind with DS6, and I turn around a lot or sit sideways. But you tend to watch the screen anyway, both because that's the point and it's just there, huge, in front of you.

I, personally, would have eaten here once to try it and then tried other places. Because of the seating being odd and dark, but my DH loves it so we go almost every trip and it isn't bad.

You will sit 2 behind 2. Yes the people in the second row will be looking at the back of the other 2. There really isn't much conversation during this meal.

Sci-fi is not a restaurant for conversation. Think of it more like if you go to a sports bar. You aren't there to chat or discuss your retirement portfolio.

- Yes, 2 in front of 2 and odds are 2 strangers in car as well.
- Not every meal is about conversation, more about the "show" and this is one.
- You can still crane and talk but when in groups we tend to just talk mostly to our seat mate.
- We eat, watch movie, enjoy the surroundings.
- SO highly themed I rather enjoy the restaurant more than my traveling party.
- Love it in there! ENJOY!

I don't mind the 2 x 2 set up for our family of 4. What I find awkward is when 2 strangers are sitting in the 3rd row behind us.

We ate at the 6-top table, which is just a standard dining table. I found it to be more awkward for that location because that's now how you're supposed to experience it. We're trying it again, for the first time in five years, when we go back and I hope we get the standard drive-in tables to actually have the experience.

Sci Fi in the car seating is not a place for conversation. Guests mostly watch the movie clips. If your main goal is to have conversation, ask for the standard tables, or pick a more traditional restaurant. and yes, there will most likely be "hitchhikers" in the last row of your car if you are seated in the cars. There's at least one car that has only two rows, but the majority of the cars are 3 row seating.

As mentioned there are picnic tables and also round tables at the back, you have to request them if you want those.

Agree with this.

My husband refuses to eat there again and was super grumpy the entire dinner last trip. Kept mutter "this is stupid"

Sci Fi is a love it, or hate it kind of place. I grew up going to drive in's, so for me it's nostalgic and great fun. I will admit to choosing my seat partner carefully, so I can eat in peace.:D
PS...
Low lighting warning. I have used a penlight to read the menu.

Thanks everyone!!! Made a lunch reservation there for September... Looking at the menu...how are the Burgers? Big enough to share if we get a dessert? We have dinner reservations at Be Our Guest that night so definitely want to eat a smaller lunch that day.

We had a couple sitting behind us and they complained about us the whole time. They were mad because we were seated in "their" car. The rest of their family was in the car next to us. It was sooooo awkward. The restaurant was full and we didn't want to wait to be moved so we endured. Our waiter brought us dessert on the house as I know he felt really bad. When we left we thanked them for making our dinner such a joyous occasion.

Wow... What a jerk!!!! Sorry that happened to you!!!!

Family of 4 - not awkward. Family of 3 (like mine) - a tad weird. Luckily we're thin now and our DS was only 3, so we just all crammed into one seat. Even knowing we wouldn't be able to do that again with our son getting bigger, the food and experience would make us go back. It is one of our favs. And, yes, the burgers are big enough to split. Especially if you get a milkshake.

Burgers are big and they have some good desserts. I LOVE LOVE the Out of This World Turtle Cheesecake.

Awfully rude for hitchhikers to complain about their ride ......
