Sorry if this has been answered before...I tried searching, but I didn't have any luck.

Anyway, Sci Fi Drive in for lunch (or even dinner I guess)...do I need to make an ADR or can we just walk in? We don't really plan ahead for where we want to eat, but I really want to take my daughter there.

Any feedback is appeciated...TIA!

Yea, to be safe, make a reservation, although we have just walked up to the podium untold number of times and got in either right away, or waited about 15 or 20 minutes at the most. Of course, our trips are in less busy times, although those are starting to be far and few between with all these new dining programs going on at WDW now.

We tried to get seated one time without a reservation with no luck. I would recommend a reservation.

Definitely get a reservation. I've been trying to get an ADR there for weeks to no avail!

I cancelled mine
looks like settin at the car with 5 can be tricky

Definitely make an ADR. The wait times there (if they will even let you wait) can be really long (we're going during busy season, but eat a really early lunch there). They were turning people away when we had an ADR there (and still had to wait), so we were glad we called!

Sci-Fi for lunch is really fun, plus a relaxing time after a morning running around at DHS!

As others have said, if there's a place where you really want to eat making a reservation is always a good idea.

That said, because of Sci Fi's unique seating set-up, I've often noticed that the dining availability board over by the tip board frequently shows that same-day reservation space is available for parties of 1 or 2.

As a solo, I've yet to be turned away as a walkup when I've asked if they had any space for a hitchhiker.

Hope you were able to get your reservation. We were able to get in Tues with no ADR-granted it was in the middle of a tropical storm. It was one of my boyfriend's favorite meals of the trips. It was the atmosphere he loved-he loves tv/movies. I thought our burgers and fries were yummy. Granted when you are wet and cold anything tastes good.

We were there recently and they were turning away walk-in's. One lady gave it to the CM pretty good. She said (and I quote) "I can't believe you need reservations at an amusement park" "come on guys, lets go". I should have put those in all caps, as she was a little loud :scared1: .

We ate there last week 8/20 for lunch. The kids just loved it. They loved sitting in the cars and watching the movies. They kept asking if the movies were really real or fake. Our server Tony was really funny and granted us a dream at the end of our meal. We all got Sci-Fi mugs filled with carmel popcorn.

Well, that's good, perhaps they will not come back to WDW, EVER !{there's your caps :lmao: }

So you think it's worth getting reservations for February for 2 people? Or try our luck walking up?

Like the OP said, I would go ahead and make an ADR just to be on the safe side. On our last trip (October 2006) we were able to walk in right at 11:00 and we were able to get a table. We were in one of the 6 passenger cars closest to the screen. We have a family of 4, and the DS's loved sitting in the "driver's seats".

I would make one, just to be safe. We had ADR there this past Wednesday for 1230 lunch. While we were waiting for our table, the CM at the podium announced to everyone who didn't have ADRs that they were booked SOLID until 10pm that night.

What really got me was that she called WDW an amusement park? What?? :confused3 I don't think they'll be back.

Thanks everyone. To be honest, I never did call. I completely forgot! I probably missed my chance, but I'll try soon.

Thanks again!
