Our day in MGM with myself, DH, DS (2) and DD, (9)....should we have lunch in Pizza Planet or Sci-fi? I thought Sci-Fi could be cool for the atmosphere, but will the kids like Pizza Planet better?

Depends what you want to eat. PP is fast food pizza in an arcade. Sci fi is sit down resturant. Why not eat at sci fi and snack at PP? Kids will want to be in the arcade at PP, and not eat anyway. That is what happened with my nephew.

Both are really cool ideas and worth the visit.

I think PP is good idea for lunch. I think Sci-Fi is to much food for lunch. For dinner it's awesome. You have to try the Coca-Cola ribs, best there is. I think the kids will probably will like pizza planet better because it has the Toy Story theme and the arcade. When we go we eat Pizza Planet for lunch and Sci Fi for dinner. It just seems better that way. With pizza planet you can eat at your own pace and i just think it is a much better lunch choice and it's fast.

IMO... i personally had the worst meal i've ever had in my life at sci fi. so i would go with the latter... plus, you can't go wrong with pizza ( knock on wood...)

Hi
We're going to try Pizza Planet for lunch. Then after a couple of hours, go to Sci-Fi for just milkshakes or a dessert. We have an ADR for that. I wanted my DNieces to try Sci-Fi since they've never been there. Plus it will be nice break on a hot August afternoon.

Pizza planet was the worst pizza I have ever had. I have not tried SCI FI, but I can't see how it could be worse. They give you these little pizzas you could buy for less than a buck at a regular store and have the audacity to charge $7.00 for them. You don't even get any real selection on what goes on it.

I would say it was the worst part of our trip. I can't believe Disney would have a resteraunt with such low standards.

We went to Sci-Fi last Tuesday for lunch and we loved it!!! It was the best milkshake I have ever had. The Chicken Sandwich was pretty good. DS9's pizza was delish and the apples with brown sugar were unreal (never thought of that combination, yumm). Then the chocolate tart for dessert.. One word YUMMMMMMMMMM. We wish we could have gone there one more time before we left. Our reservations got messed up by Disney (they were supposed to be for Tuesday, Disney had them down as Wednesday) but the CM's at Sci-fi took care of it and we were seated within 10 mins and they were packed.

We didn't get to PP so I can't give my opinion on that one but if you want a great experience go with Sci Fi!

That's just my 2 cents!

I thought PP was ok. We usually eat there. Our fav at MGM is the Prime Time Cafe. Love the fried chicken.

Sci-Fi since its impossible to get a decent slice anywhere at WDW

I am not typically a picky person but I have had only one decent piece of pizza in all of WDW (at the Boardwalk pizza window). I looked at PP's menu recently since I thought my kids would enjoy it's atmosphere but its basically pizza only so I doubt we'll be eating there (thought they might have sandwiches too but no such luck).

Sci Fi has always been great for us. Actually its the only restaurant at WDW we have done each of our eight trips. We just find the counter service a bit lacking at MGM and usually eat at Sci Fi one of our MGM days and Prime Time the other. I love the atmospere at Sci Fi as well as the burgers and shakes. Which is also why I prefer lunch, burgers are not on the menu at dinner (although we have been able to order them at dinner, not sure if they still do that or not).

My kids want to do just this. I really wanted to try Sci-Fi for dinner then Fantasmic but I thought that unless you do the dinner package you have to wait in line for hours. I really was not liking the choices for the dinner package. We are going the first week of December. Is Sci-Fi then Fantasmic doable?

I don't like either of them. PP had the worst pizza I have ever had. I actually like the food at the Commissary.

Goofy4Donald,

We aren't big breakfast eaters so we just eat a light breakfast from the resort food court. We eat a early lunch, around 11:00 a.m., at the Toy Story Pizza Planet. We purchase a light snack mid-afternoon. Our dinner reservations are usually for 7:30 p.m. or so. We go to WDW in June so, many times, there are two Fantasmic shows. The last one is definitely the least crowded. It takes about an hour to eat at the Sci-Fi. We usually try to head to the Fantasmic theater about an hour before the performance. They will allow the park guests into the theater about an hour before the show. We go ahead and pick a seat and just hang out until the show. We spend this time to reflect on the day.

I would definitely say that lunch at Toy Story Pizza Planet, dinner at the Sci-Fi and then Fantasmic is DOABLE!

Have a great time, Lisa

I would go with SciFi good food and fun too. I would go inside Pizza plant and look around, but thats it. Thats what we did. The prices to play those games too, wOw!

You absolutely do not need to do the Fantasmic Dinner Package to avoid hours in line. My first trip I did the dinner package, discovered the seating for the dinner pkg. section is not even the best and never did it again! In seven subsequent trips, I have never had a problem seeing the show. We generally arrive between 45-60 minutes early and get seats fine. I think the first week of December you will have absolutely no problem. That time of year, they will likely only have one Fantasmic show at around 7:00 but you should be able to get fine seats one hour beforehand. And since its a large amphitheater, you aren't standing in line, you will be able to sit down in your seat while you wait. They sell snacks, drinks (even beer), hotdogs, ice cream popcorn etc., and there are restrooms. Its nice to sit down, relax and waith for the show to start. No dinner pkg. necessary. Just make sure to see the Osborne Lights after Fantasmic, they actually let you do that past the official park closing. They are wonderful!

Thank you both so much for the posts. My DD9 went to PP last summer with her grandparents and has talked it up to her brother & sisiter so much that (who cares about the food) it is an absolute must. My DH and I both wanted to check out SciFi and were disappointed that we might miss it. I think that an early lunch at PP and dinner at SciFi will be perfect. I just want to allow enough time to get to Fantasmic 1 hour before the show starts. Does allears post fantasmic times or do I need to got to WDW website? Thanks again both of you. I am so excited i can't wait until June 5 to make my ADR's.
THANK YOU !!!!!!!!THANK YOU!!!!!!!
