Sci-Fi or Mama Melrose's???

Been to Mama Melrose's in the past and loved it... Also does Sci-Fi do the FDP???

The attraction at Sci Fi definately is not the food, its the atmosphere. Not to say that the food is bad. Its okay, not memorable. It depends if you are looking for good food or the unique dining experience at Sci Fi.

We have done Mama's 2 or three times,and it is ok. We have been to Sci-Fi
several times and would probably rate it as the superior experience. Just remember at Sci-Fi, get a burger and rings and a milkshake. I have heard they have good salads, but haven't tried one.

that being said I would pick Mama Melrose.....

If you want a really good burger and onion rings with a cool atmosphere then go to Sci Fi. If you want good Italian then MM. Two totally dif. experiences,but I love them both!!!!!

For foodwise not even a close comparison, Mama Melrose all the way. It's also just a wonderful restaurant altogether.

However, my DS loves SciFi and has asked to eat in the "cars" again this trip. So we may try it for lunch (great cheeseburgers) or even just dessert as there were some wonderful ones on the menu and the atmosphere can't be beat.

I don't think you can compare these two as there are two very different ones. Try lunch at SciFi and dinner at Mama's.

Also Sci-Fi does not do FDP. Only Mama's, Hollywood & Vine, and Brown Derby.

We have eaten at both places and I love SciFi for the atmosphere but the food was far superior at Mama Melrose's! Our portions were so large that we could have easily shared.

IMHO Sci-Fi is a restaurant to do once or twice for the atmosphere. MM is a restaurant you go back to for the food.

The burgers are great at Sci-Fi, and the shakes are pretty good. Just don't get anything other than a burger and you should be fine. The kitschy atmosphere makes it well worth it.

Just wanted to add that Sci-Fi does NOT do the Fantasmic Dinner package.

Having said that, I completely agree with the consensus above. Sci-Fi is a fun event but the food is...eh. Mama Melrose has decent to very good Italian food without the entertainment.

If you've been to Mama's but not to Sci-Fi, definitely give Sci-Fi a try for lunch. Yeah, burgers & rings are the way to go. My wife got a chicken sandwich which was fine but it was $14! Ouch! The house salad is pretty good but a little pricey.

One cool thing that happened to us last time we went (year and a half ago): We asked about substituting for french fries, and our server thought a little while then suggested green beans. We said OK and they turned out to be really good!! And at no additional charge they sure beat the salad! Can't promise this will work but it's worth asking.

We ate dinner at both last week. Mama's was the surprise of the trip for us--it was excellent. Sci Fi was fun, but the food was not good.

We really like Mama Melrose and we didnt care for Sci Fi when we tried is so our pick is for MM!
