We have four and five year old girls and want to eat somewhere decent but alos must see Fantasmic. Should we eat at Sci-Fi and get to Fantasmic really early for seats or eat at H&V and get a guaranteed seat even though the restaurant atmosphere isn't very great?

If you go to Sci Fi, you will probably have to line up at least an hour if not more before Fantasmic to get into the show. I can't recommend Hollywood & Vine because we just plain don't like it. We always dine at Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic Package.

I personally prefer the Sci-Fi! My family makes a point of eating there at least once during every trip. Arriving early for Fantasmic is not too bad, even though the crowds always look horrible you can still get a great seat.

DBF and I actually did this on our trip in May. We ate at Sci-Fi about 4:30-5 and after dinner and a ride or two went over to wait in the line for Fantasmic (we went in early May, so crowds were not bad). We got to the line at about 7:15 because they started letting people in at 7:30, and after that long walk into the theater with the crowd, we ended up right in the second row in the center. Bring something along that will keep your DDs entertained during the wait prior to the show and you should have no problems.

I don't like Sci-Fi or H&V.

About 5 years ago we had the Fantasmic Reservations at Brown Derby. We waited for the show for over an hour. The next 4 times we went we did not get the Fantasmic Package at all and we walked right into the Fantasmic theatre, seated immediately with great seats, minimal wait for the show. We've never been turned away from the show and there has always been room to spare in the audience.

So, do you really need the so called saved seating? Anyone ever been turned away from the show?

It would help to know what time of year you are going and if there are two showings or not.

I don't think the package is necessary in the off season or if you can go to the second showing and I much prefer eating where I want to and then heading to the show about an hour before and getting better seats than I would if I did the package. I like sitting in the center, about half way back. With the package you'll be to the far right.

But if you are going during peak season like maybe June, July etc...I may do the package just to be guaranteed a seat. Just know that you should still get to the stadium between 45 minutes and 30 minutes before the show to get your package seats. After 30 minutes, they can, and sometimes do, open up that section to all guests.

I'm familiar with the end of August, Sept, Oct, Nov and beginning of Dec and for any of those times, I'd skip the package and eat where I want and do the show on my own.

I would rather eat at Sci Fi (or 50's Prime Time) than H&V.

Anywhere but H&V. The food reminds me of what they serve in a school cafeteria. It is awful.

Either will be ok. We like Moma Melrose thought. They go good sangria.

We're going the last week of April, which I don't think would be too busy. I think there is only one showing at 8:30pm. We have resv. at Sci-Fi for 5:20pm, so I think we should be okay.
