I am looking to eat only the basics (onion rings, shakes) for lunch in a themed restaurant with my sister. We're in our 30's, and we want to have fun and feel like we experienced something. What do you recommend?

Thanks!!!

Well, while it's true the PTC (affectionately known to DH-to-be and me as "Mom's") does not offer burgers, its o-rings and shakes are simply to die for. And in my opinion, the atmosphere and food are much, much, MUCH better than Sci-Fi.
Granted, the concept of Sci-Fi is cool. But when I went there with a girlfriend, we weren't exactly blown away. Food was mediocre, and we found that sitting next to each other instead of across the table made the pace of the conversation kind of odd. You know, you're used to looking at the other person when they talk...
Just my 2 knuts.
Cheers,

I'm not sure if they do now, but 50's Prime Time definitely used to have burgers! (I know peronsally - it was the last piece of meat that I ate before coming vegetarian - dating way back to 1997 -- and an old friend actually caught it on video tape too!). Anyway, my impressions of both are that they have fun, and the food is decent at both. Sci Fi to me seems like more of a place to sit a relax (it's dark, there's films going on, etc.), 50s is more of an interactive experience (your waitor teases you and will get mad at you for elbows on the table!).
I think that both will be a lot of fun and enjoyable - just depends on what you're looking for!

we go to both and for shakes and stuff sci - fi dine in theater is the best, i dont prefer either for a full meal. if you ask for one of the tables in the rear you can sit normally and you can see the whole place for the full affect. that is what we do rather than sit in the cars

I just love the 50's PT and I am not a big fan of Sci Fi at all. So, you know where I'd recommend.......:)

Our family loves Sci-Fi for lunch. Burgers are shakes are great!
We visit here on every trip.::MinnieMo

Prime Time Cafe was awesome! The have the best shakes and better onion rings in my opinion...except the onions rings are actually onion straws, but the tast much better. I didn't like sci fi dine in...the movies kind of spoiled my apetite anyways. Prime Time was alot of fun and I would overall suggest that.

Prime time was has a nice atmosphere, but we won't go it again. We hare kind of quiet people and not everyone loved the entertainment. The food was good. but we had actual meals, not lnchy snacks.

We do the Sci-Fi every time we are there..The shakes are very good and the food is good too...have not really had a bad meal there....(although we alays eat off the lunch menu).

Prime Time is a true experience! It's a lot of fun, especially if you are in a good mood and want to joke around and have a fun time. I got into "trouble" with my "cousin" (another customer) and we had to sing I'm a Little Teapot. It was really a blast!

I haven't been to Sci Fi so can't comment on that.

We love PT, but have done both. Theming is cooler at Sci Fi, but its not a place for conversation, is a tad dark, and the food is usually not that great for hte money. On the other hand, we have had INCREDIBLE meals at PT, we split a meal each time and have food leftover, so its a good value for us. And the onion rings are great. Theming is cool, too, and we've always had great service =0

I have been to both 50's Prime Time and The Sci-Fi and found myself liking the 50's better.

Sci-Fi is probably more fun if you are a kid ...they tend to like the dark, watching movies sitting next to each while they eat their burger, fries and shake or soda with a lite ice cub in it with mom and dad sitting right behind them. The movie is just a bunch of old B and C sci-fi films cut and pasted together that runs in a loop every x minutes. Burgers are the SAFE choice here at $$$$ .Sci-Fi Lunch Menu

I think you will have more fun at the 50's Prime Time. Tell your server you are related (brother-sister) and you will start to have flash backs to when you were kids. I found the experience to be more enjoyable because of the seating arrangement and variety of food choices without all the loud noise of a repeating film collage.50's Prime Time Menu
