Sci Fi or 50's Primetime

Can't decide. We have two children 5 and 8. Can you help me decide? How is the food? I think both atmospere's will be fun. We are doing WCC so thought maybe I should do Sci Fi. Sooo confused. What do you all think?

I'm probably going to be in the minority but I would pick Sci Fi. The food is less than spectacular, but seriously, how bad can a hamburger be? And the milkshakes are good. To me WCC and 50's are very similar in atmosphere. Both are very noisy and busy. And the food is heavy. We do eat at 50's but try never to do it at lunch because we always feel like we need a nap after eating those big meals. The Sci Fi is unique, no place on property like it. Your children are old enough to feed themselves, which is one of the pitfalls of Sci Fi with younger children. And it's a quieter, more relaxing place to stop and take a middday break. Our children are in their 20s and 30s and love going to Sci Fi. Stick to the burgers and shakes, your kids will thank you for taking them there.

If you're doing WCC, then I say go for Sci-Fi! The kids are usually mesmerized by the movies. It's a really awesome place.

totally take sci fi. i have a 8 year old that has autism that loves it and that is the only place he asked to et when we go next week. even asked his grandma for money for his great report card so he can pay for it himself. oh nd get the ice cubes that glow. its a year later and we still have ours and the kids think they are the coolest thing. even my 2 year old and 8 month old like them.

Both are fun. The food is better at Prime Time, but I think your kids will have more fun sitting in cars to eat their meal!

I was totally unimpressed with the food at Prime Time. I'd say go to SciFi, enjoy the "drive-in" and have a burger, fries and milkshake.

We vote SciFi - Love the food and the atmosphere.... DH and I usually get the back seat - since its only the 2 of us.... Milk shakes are great!~

I'll take Prime Time over SciFi any day. This last trip we went to both and we had the most obnoxious "hitchikers" in the car with us. We were only two and they were four so they pretty much dominated the car and were just loud and rude. I like the atmosphere at Prime Time much better. Besides, the food is much better at Prime Time....in my opinion.

My DS12 and I both love the Sci-fi. We also get the burgers and I think they are pretty good. The atmosphere is fantastic. We eat there at least once if not more every trip. My son never wants to eat any where else when we are at the Studios.

We have never tried 50's Prime Time. I am a very shy person and I don't think I would enjoy the servers/actors. However, if you like that sort of thing then that might be a better choice for you. I guess it comes down to what you think your family would enjoy more.

Either way have fun!

We LOVE Sci-Fi. Here's my diff. between the two. At 50s you get the same type of food that you can get at any Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel restaurant (old fashion country style). The theme is cute with moms that yell at you to eat your food but you get that at home so why would you want it at WDW? lol.

At Sci-Fi, they have AMAZING milkshakes and burgers as well. Where else can you go and sit in a car and watch movies on a huge drive-in screen?! I know of no place like that!!! We went in May and I wanted to go back in Feb but dad finally put the No down so we'll try somewhere else but it has been a fav for years. I'm 22 and still love going there!!!

Thanks for all the info on Sci-Fi - we're heading to MGM tomorrow for a day trip & I looked at their menu & it really sounds great. We've eaten at Prime Time before & it was "okay" but I want something different this trip. Thanks again........

WOW...love reading this thread. We have gone to Prime Time. It was fun. This time we were debating on trying the Sci Fi, and after readingthis,,,,it is a must do for us now. Thanks everyone!

Im for the SCI - FI. We like it. The milkshakes and burgers can't be beat. When we we're their last, our kids meal came on a glow in the dark frisbee. We go also for the atmosphere. We love it!

We have only been to Primetime, but have an ADR for Sci Fi for our upcoming trip. Looking forward to trying it out.

The Sci Fi has been a must for each trip and we'll squeeze it in for the next one too. I took my kids there for the first time when they were 5 & 7. They loved it! When we went back 10 years later, that was the only restaurant the had any memories of. Including the character meals that I thought would have made lifetime memories. When we go next year, my DDs will be 17 & 19 and have made it clear that I cannot leave this restaurant out of the plans. Besides, we laugh the whole time we're there at the shorts on the screen that play.
