After a bit of a Disney hiatus, DH just announced he may be ready for WDW again for spring break. Since we're well within our 180 days I'm trying to secure some dining in case he decides it's definitely a go, but I'm not sure about our HS day. Any opinions on these 2 restaurants? It'll be myself, DH and DD9. TIA!

Have you ever been to the Sci-Fi? If you have, the videos shown at the drive in are the same for the past 20ish years. Every time I go with someone new to Disney World they want to try Sci-Fi and I sigh about having to watch the same videos on loop for an hour and a half while we sit awkwardly in multiple rows. Since there's only 3 of you, one person will have to sit by themselves behind or in front of the other two. That being said, the food is not bad and if there's something there you've never ate, and you've never tried it, go for it! If you've been before, don't do it again and opt for the Prime Time.

Like PP's, we prefer 50's PT. Good food, and good antics with the wait staff.

We don't care for the seating arrangements, nor having to eat in the dark at SciFi. Plus, the food is fairly mediocre to us. We hadn't eaten there is several years, and decided to try it again this past May to give it a fair shake and see if it had gotten any better. Nope...it hadn't.

Been to both.
Was very unimpressed by 50's PT.
I grew up going to Sci-fi every trip.
Loved it as a child and still love it now as does the rest of my family.
I think one nice thing is it kinda allows you to just chill and not really think for a little while lol.

We ate at both last week. Both were good but the seating at Sci Fi for 3 is awkward. I preferred the food at 50’s

Great, now you guys have me second guessing going to Sci-Fi! We’ve been there once and really liked it. The food is decent, atmosphere is fun. I love the cars. But we’ve never been to 50’s, and their menu looks a bit better to me. Ugh....decisions!!

If you are on the fence about Sci Fi go ahead and grab an ADR until you decide (if you haven't already of course). We are going Spring Break in early April and have had a hard time changing the only one we could grab (3:45) to a better time for us. 50's seems to be pretty open though.

Haven't been, but chose Sci Fi just because we want to try it and think the kids will get a kick out of it.

I haven't been to 50 PT yet (going for our upcoming trip for the first time), however my daughter loves Sci Fi. She was 6 the first time, begged to go back at 9 and begged again for this trip. She will be 11. Sci Fi and BOG are her must do's. I think your daughter will love it too. It's just so unique. The cars are cool.

We are a family of 3. I thought it a bit weird to sit with our backs to one another, but we liked it. My DD and I sat up front and my DH sat in back. He likes the back to himself and we can talk easily. The seats aren't far apart. The food is good burger joint type food. We always have liked what we ordered.

This trip we are going to go to 50 s for lunch and Sci Fi for s late dinner. For some reason I found HS the hottest park and look forward to having two places to cool down.

Sci-Fi - an amazing room. Food - meh.

Prime Time - huge portions. Formica and black & white TV might not connect with some youngsters.

Coin-flip!

Sci Fi is fun for kids, especially ones who have never been to a drive in movie, but have heard their parents wistfully reminisce about the good old days of jammies in the backseat or kissing in the front seat.
I liked being able to put the kids in front of me to supervise and they felt like they had their own table. Your DD would get a kick out of it.

I like the food at the 50s much much better. And I also like not eating in near total darkness.
Thanks for this. My husband feels the same way so it’s good to know how dark it is. I hadn’t thought of that.

DH loved 50's Prime Time. He had meat loaf and asked for the recipe. Now that I am planning again, I want to try Sci Fi but I'm afraid he will be disappointed. Still going to plan for it and take the chance. Once we have done both, we can choose. I think you should try each of them once.

SciFi! We have done both and were definitely disappointed with 50s. Food was not what we expected at all, it is a one and done for us.
