Sci Fi or 50's Prime Time?

We will be taking a one-day trip to HS in July. I've already made an ADR for Sci Fi (we went in 2007 and everyone loved the food and atmosphere ). I am wondering if I should switch it to 50's Prime Time to try something different? I want the kids to have fun...they are 10, 8, 7 and 2 yrs. Thanks for any advice!!!

We enjoyed the atmosphere and food much better at 50's primetime! The waiters are fantastic and the atmosphere is wonderful. The food is hands down better than sci-fi. If you have already experienced sci-fi try something new.

I actually don't think that the food quality differs much between the two. Pick the one you want based on atmosphere.

imo, 50's is far and away better then sci-fi. we had so a great meal at 50's that we still think that it is one of the best meals we had at wdw. when we went to sci-fi we heard so much about it and how great it was we were looking forward to it. when we got there we thought the food was not good at all and will never go back there again.

I've eaten at Sci-Fi about 4 times. When we were at WDW last month, dh wanted to give it a try. So, I booked lunch for the three of us. He was underwhelmed. As usual, the food was okay, nothing special. DH's comment was that it would be nice to first, be able to read the menu, and second to actually be able to see what you were eating. It is just so darn dark in there. Yeah, I get it...it's a drive-in. But they could do something about the darkness in there....small lights within the cars, pointed at only the serving areas.
We won't be back. We'll stick with 50's.

Since you've already done Sci-Fi I'd go with 50's. We love the atmosphere at Sci-Fi and the food is ok. The atmosphere in 50's is also fun but I think the food is probably slightly better. If you get a good waitress at 50's and go with it -you will have a great time.

We have dined at both many times. We think the food is better at 50s but the atmosphere is so much better at Sci Fi.

I haven't been to Sci Fi because I don't think their menu looks that appealing. However I have been multiple times to 50's Prime Time Cafe for lunch and dinner, so I would highly recommend it.

+1. Sci-Fi does nothing for me. But we enjoy 50's quite a bit. Fried Chicken, meatloaf and milkshakes have pretty much become a family tradition for us.

Another vote for 50's. Love the Fried Chicken and Meatloaf. And you can switch up the sides - I always get green beans with my dinners.

I would agree with you there. Have had decent meals at both. Prefer 50s Prime Time for the atmosphere.

I personally didnt think 50's was all that great. The fried chicken was incredibly salty....table next to us said the same thing. Also I felt a bit rushed. Although the antics were good (not great with my server), i've noticed its a very hit or miss with the servers. If you dont get a server that plays the part....it can be very boring. Considering the age of your kids, they might not find the 'nagging' to be very funny to be honest. With kids, its all about the theme of the restaurant. And I highly doubt your kids would find the 50's atmosphere absolutely outstanding. Lol. I know mine didnt.
SCI FI has a very unique theme, a lot of fun. Yes the food is simple but its quite tasty. Their ribs are SO GOOD! I love them. Burgers & shakes are delish as well. We've never had a bad meal here. yes its a bit dark, but it is a drive in.

We did 50s last time we went and it was good, but more than anything we had more fun at this place than anywhere on the whole trip...We are trying Sci Fi next summer though...You will not be disappointed in 50s tho

We went to 50's on the 21st (doomsday) We had Aunt Betty as our server she was amazing are 11 yr old was dishing right back it was alot of fun. I had the chicken (good) Wife had meatloaf (good I tried a little) My son only wanted onion rings He liked them as well. Last month ate at Sci Fi liked the drive inn part a little to dark I had the Ribs they were good. Milk shake was really good. There both are good no bad choice

Haven't done 50's but I did Sci-fi. LOVED IT! It was so much fun to sit in the dark, it was FREEZING cold, our food was delicious, and we liked sitting in the car. It helped that the people behind us kept pretending to make out, which was hilarious (we didn't know them!), but we liked it!

Try the 50s. Both are great experiences, but different. Since you've already been to Sci Fi, try the 50s. The food at both can be fine but you are mostly paying for the experience.

Although we LOVE SciFi, we did the 50's for the first time on our last trip in 2009 and LOVED IT!!!

The kids loved their food and talking about how the place was decorated - my MIL loved her dish and relishing in the moments of being back in time!

DH and I thought it was more worth the $ than Sci Fi - although sitting in the cars is the BEST part of eating there - because I find it difficult to choose something off of the menu there - at 50's there were too many wonderful choices!

Either way, enjoy!!!
