We have never been to 50's Prime Time and went to Sci Fi once at least 10 years ago for lunch. I made dinner reservations for both and want to give one up as soon as possible. Looking for opinions on both of them. I am leaning towards 50's for the milkshakes, I know silly reason, and DH wants Sci Fi for the ribs. How is the food and service at both? Any help is appreciated.

I would suggest trying 50s Prime Time especially if you have never been there before. I like trying different places. We have visited both- 50s for an early dinner 2 yrs ago and Sci Fi lunch this past Sept. The food and service at both was good. I would revisit either one of them again if I was not trying to fit in a new place.

50's was there last Sunday and again a great meal. My wife had the Chicken Sandwich w/ fries and I had the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and southern greens. Outside of LeCellier it was my favorite meal. My wife really enjoyed her Brownie Sundae she had for dessert and my ice cream sundae was also very, very good and plenty of hot fudge. Good stuff and service here!

We ate at the Sci-Fi last month and didn't enjoy it much at all. The ribs were greasy (gave me a stomach ache) and service was very slow!! It was disappointing, as both DBF and I had been wanting to eat there for several years.

Thankfully, we had free dining; otherwise, the cost would have been one of the most expensive of our vacation.

We at at the Prime Time Diner last year and liked it more than Sci-Fi, though we don't plan to eat there again either.

Head for The Wave in the Contemporary Resort!!

I love the BLT soup at Sci-Fi so I have to go with Sci-Fi, plus I love the ambiance.

50's would be my pick. It's a fun atmosphere and I think the food is much better.

I absolutely love watching those cheesy movies and sitting in the cars at Sci Fi but the food is so much better at 50's.

We were at Sci-fi last week, and I really didn't like the ribs at all. I only ate a small amount....they had a lot of fat and not much meat.

Like them both, they have different styles of food and atmosphere. So I would just flip that coin to find out who wins!

We love PT 50's. It's one of DH's favorites. The food is good and I enjoy visiting with "our extended family" at 50's.;)

atmosphere better at Sci-Fi but food so so
Prime Time has way better food. Although I was say you can't kill a burger

Decide which is more important to you and go there

We will be making our first trip in December so I have actually never made it to either one. I came up with a compromise so I could see both. We will be having lunch at Prime Time and go to Sci-Fi later in the afternoon for a shake or dessert. You might consider doing something similar. Then you and your hubby could both get what you want.

I have been to both several times and much prefer the 50s Prime Time Cafe! I hope you enjoy it :cool1: If you have teenagers that are sensitive, I might skip it... the waitresses pick on you a little. That's my favorite part now (and as a young kid when they would hassle Mom and Dad, hilarious) but I was offended in my more sensitive years. I was prob too young to get it but I looked terribly old for my age at that time.

Hello,
I haven't eaten at the sci-fi, BUT I can highly recommend The 50's Prime Time Cafe. When we were there last the waitress would not let me put my elbows on the table, she even had the guys next to us stand in the corner for a time out, all was done in the spirit of good fun. The food here was great. Try the Pot Roast mmmmmmmm....... Also try the Apple cobbler ala mode, It was so good my brother has dreamed about it ever since. We'll be going to DW in June and the 50's is definately on the to do list.

We went for dinner at Sci-Fi during our June-July trip. It was the longest wait we experienced during our trip. Even though we had an advanced dining reservation of 4:20pm, we weren’t seated until after 5pm. However, the food was well worth the wait since the milkshakes, the Reuben sandwich, and cheeseburgers were out of this world. The atmosphere in there was fantastic. I’ve heard some people complain about it being dark in that restaurant but they forget it is supposed to mimic a drive-in movie theater at nighttime. We were able to read the entire menu using our car’s dashboard light. The kids loved eating in the car while watching old science fiction movies.

We're not against the idea of trying 50's Prime Time. In fact, we are hoping to visit that restaurant next time we go to Hollywood Studios at WDW. As others have already suggested, why not try both? You could do an early lunch at one then a late dinner at the other. That would be a nice compromise. Wouldn't it? ;)

We were at Sci-Fi last month for lunch and the service was out of this world (sorry, had to say it). The food was pretty good. The best items were the drinks, DH had an amazing strawberry milkshake and I had a cherry Coke made with real cherries and cherry syrup. The rest of the food was good but no more ... about what you'd get at Chili's. DH had the mango tofu and was really impressed, I had the shrimp pasta and it was fine but nothing special. In any case the waitress was the standout, she was excellent, joking with all her tables and offering to take pictures (they came out pretty good, too).

All that said, it was a wonderful experience we're really glad we did, and we'd eat there again if we were with someone else who wanted to or if we needed a meal in the Studios, but I don't know that we'd go out of our way for it like we did this time (we split our Studios day to have the Fantasmic package one evening, then do a morning at Studios ending with Sci-Fi).

ETA: our reservation was for 12:00 noon, we arrived at 11:50 and were seated by 11:55.

If you haven't tried the 50's PT then it's a must! :thumbsup2 The atmosphere is fantastic and the servers are hilarious! :rotfl:Everyone around you are your cousins and the server acts like your mother. The food is ok but the atmosphere is great.

We loved Sci-fi! DH had the Reuben and I had a chicken sandwich. Kids had the ribs. The Reuben was wonderful the other 2 were OK. But we had a fun waitress and the kids loved the environment. As well as the milkshakes!!
