Ok I need some opinions......my mom and I are trying to decide between Sci Fi and 50's Prime Time.....we like the menu at 50's a bit better but we love the ambience of Sci-Fi.

Any input would assist.

Thanks so much!!!!

Are you on the dining plan? Sci-Fi is cheaper, so better if you’re paying OOP. This will be our 5th trip doing Sci-Fi and skipping 50s- originally bc I was too shy for the antics at 50s, and now that having small children has upped my shame threshold, our kids love the cars too much to skip SciFi

Yes we are on a dining plan....I did read, however, that the antics at 50's had been tamed down...whether this is true or not I have no idea! Is the food good at Sci-Fi?

We like both so rotate them every other trip - this year is a Sci Fi year! I prefer sci fi for lunch because it’s a great place to cool down and rest in the middle of the day. I feel like you need to be on your toes for all of the antics at 50s. We went last August and our server was very into the antics. I’ve always believed it’s more based on your wait staff vs the restaurant as a whole.

SciFi is the quietest restaurant around. Great place to relax and take a break from the heat. I love the dim lighting. We always liked the food at scifi. We've had: spinach dip, wings, onion rings, burgers, and shakes....all good! Esp the oreo shakes! OMG! :cloud9:

Food at 50's is good too. All depends what you prefer. When i was there recently we got a lovely server who was as sweet as pie...sadly she didnt play into the antics. So it was a bit disappointing for us to experience it as a regular restaurant. :(

I love the theme at both places. BUT, i like the theme at SciFi way more.

We enjoy both so for us it comes down to the time of year. I love the food and antics at 50's but in the summer meatloaf and pot roast are the last things I want to eat. So 50's has always been a colder month meal for us. SciFi on the other hand with their sandwiches, burgers, and salads always skews a bit more to the warmer months. But good news is you can't go wrong with either.

Had lunch at 50s Prime Time last month. Salmon with green beans and mashed potatoes was delicious and everyone loved the onion rings. Had really wanted to check out the restaurant for the different experience/environment more than anything else. Our server was Quinn.....she was great. Seriously energetic with a decent dose of overbearing, but with a positive edge.

Lunch - Sci Fi
Supper 50's Diner
You can't really go wrong with either choice.

Right now, I like the food better at Sci Fi. Plus, as it’s been mentioned, it’s pretty quiet and relaxing inside.

Another vote for Sci Fi here. I've always felt the food at 50's is just meh. I did really enjoy the shakes there tho. But I don't think 50's was bad, more like, something I can find almost anywhere food wise. And I never get lucky with a fun server! So maybe that's why I prefer Sci Fi

I really like both and agree it all depends on what kind of food you are in the mood for. For some reason I just really enjoy Cousin Amy's Iceberg Wedge at 50sPTC, and I love to get that and Aunt Liz's golden fried chicken. If I am with a friend, we will sometimes each get an appetizer and then split the chicken dinner.

I like to get sandwiches at Sci Fi. Like other have said, it is just so relaxing in there. And one place I can usually get in as a walk up solo diner.

I definitely like 50s over Sci Fi. You say you're a party of two? Have you done this before? We were placed as a party of two behind a family. The parents sat up front, then the kids, and then us. Those kids stared at us the whole time while their parents had what seemed a special little dinner just the two of them. Haven't been back since.

50's Prime Time - We like the food better here. The antics have never been more than we want to tolerate. I think they get a feel for how far you want to go with that sort of thing. At least that's been our experience.
The Sci-Fi - The atmosphere is much better here, but I think the food is better at 50's PT

We love 50's Prime Time. We don't normally eat the kind of food they serve there but have always loved everything we have ordered. I do agree with the PPs who said that 50's Prime Time is better for dinner. While I love the food, it is very "heavy" food and I don't think I would be very comfortable walking around a hot theme park after eating pot roast or meatloaf in the middle of the day. We have always felt the servers are very good at "reading" how comfortable someone is with antics. In general we have always had excellent service at 50's PT. One trip we had a CM who had worked at WDW for YEARS and when I mentioned that I hope to work there one day as a retirement job she sat down at the table and talked to me about all of her different jobs there and her experiences over the years (I will add the restaurant had drastically thinned out so she wasn't ignoring other tables to talk to us.

I like them both. It seems like even with an ADR it takes forever to get into PTC though. I really like the atmosphere in both of them (in a way, they are both sort of themed to the same era) and the food at both has been fine. Sometimes the car seating can be a little tight if you have any Pooh size guests in your party though, and it is difficult to have a conversation when you are all facing the same direction.

I've been to SciFi more times than i can count, and I have to say that's not a typical dining experience. Its always just a party of two for us...and we never had issues like that. Yes, youre seated with other people in your car because there's no such thing as a two seater car at SciFi. So naturally you wouldnt be the only one. But thats not a big deal because everyone is facing forward. Youre not talking to your car mates at all. Its pretty private.

BTW wow. Those parents have zero common sense. Why wouldn't you put your kids in front so that you can keep and eye on them? That must've been an annoying experience.
