I noticed hotdogs are part of the children's menu. Our DD's loves milkshakes and onion rings as a treat so I know that is what they will want and know there is no way they will eat a full children's meal too...so I would like to be able to order them a hotdog each with out ordering the childrens meal. Has anyone done this and how much it cost?

DH and I love ribs as a treat but could never eat a full serving. Has anyone shared? Was this a issue with the server? When we share we always tend to tip as if we order two servings.

thanks:goodvibes

We've eaten at the Sci-fi 4 times and are heading back on trip number 5. I am not positive you can order a hot dog separately but I can tell you that the servers there are very patient and helpful on substituting items. There are 4 in our party and we were able to substitute a couple of our side dishes. By the way, the ribs and onion rings are great. Try the BLT soup too. It's delish! Lisa

Thanks Lisa...we weren't going to do many TS but we have never been and it sounds like a place we would all enjoy! My girls hardly ever have onion rings but they both love them...so I would avoid eating of the children's menu unless they could order those.

It looks to me like the hot dog on the children's menu is part of meal that includes an appetizer and desert. You probably can get a hot dog but I doubt they will allow you to substitute the adult onion rings and the milk shake in place of the kid pick appetizer and desert.

They would have no problem with you sharing ribs with your spouse, or everyone at the table eating one order of onion rings for that matter.

I have no idea how they would price the hot dog if you didn't want the kid pick appetizer or desert.

This is what I would do.

To the server -

"Hi, these two kids would like just a hot dog each and we'd like to share the plate of ribs. We'd also like an order of onion rings and two milkshakes".

I'm 99.5% sure the server will say "Thank you very much, anything else?" And the .4% would be if you had a brand new server.

Sharing meals is no big deal. We do it all the time at Disney World and now at our local restaurants (although they don't seem to get the concept that we need an extra plate too - Disney does). Not getting the full enchilada for a meal (figuratively) is also fine. At counter service, you can get just a cheeseburger or a hot dog without the fries. It's not on the menu but they can easily do it.

Thanks...that's what I am going to do. I really don't think every child wants a full meal especially 2 pre-schoolers and I hope it won't be an issue to order it by itself.

How much time should I allow to eat here? We would like to go directly to Fantasmic to get seats afterwards.

No more than an hour. The film reel loops after about 45 minutes. You'll probably be paying the bill around then. The service here is pretty fast although not rushed.

And I noticed I didn't mention the one hint I give to everyone eating there. Take a small flashlight to read the menu. You have lights in the cars but, well, it's a car light.

For the seating in the car, if your daughters get along well, you might consider putting them in the front seat and you and your husband in the middle seat. You can still talk to them and everything but they can sit up there and giggle at the clips all they want. Also, whoever is in the driver's seat will be presented with the bill. Always great for a nice laugh for the parents. If they don't have money to pay for it, they will be told they have to wash the dishes.

I don't know specifically about the hot dog situation, but I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem. My sister and I always share a sandwich or something so I know sharing is definitely not a problem. I think it's a great idea to share actually because maybe you'll have room for a tasty dessert!
