We had lunch there in January and enjoyed it. We stuck to the basics- burgers and milk shakes, but it was pretty good. We all really enjoyed the neat theming :)

we always eat at the sci-fi for lunch on every trip

cheeseburgers, fries, shakes and a dessert

had the spinach artichoke dip once - it was very good

love the "drive-in theater" theming

and it's always cool and dark (and quieter than some restaurants - seems everyone is staring ahead at the movie screen)

We tried it last trip for something different, my DD did not want to go to Prime Time...SciFi was a big disapointment. Cold food, VERY rushed meal, invisable server, no drink refills. We were so looking forward to this meal experience. the best part were the movie trailers..

Back to Prime Time for us.

We went in January (it was our 1st trip ever to Disney) and were a little disappointed -- since it came so highly recommended by friends. It was the ONLY ADR we had for the trip and had to wait nearly 1/2 hour to get seated. It was crowded and service was VERY slow and our waitress was overwhelmed (but pleasant, nonetheless). While the overall atmosphere/theme was enjoyable, and kids enjoyed watching a movie in a "car" while we ate, we didn't find the food or selection to be very good at all. The menu is mostly pub fare and in our opinion, was quite greasy.

It is neat to see & you really want to get a "car". The lunch menu is ok, but nothing special. It is the theme that gets you. The night-time drive-in is really neat with the old movie clips & ads :thumbsup2 It can be pricey though. Our lunch check was about $140 (after the tip was added) for our family of 6 (one was only 3) and we had no alcohol or dessert.

well I wouldn't go for the food alone...it is burgers etc, but a very UNIQUE dining experience...worth it for something new....I think the food is better at Prime Time...that being said however next trip our ressies are for Sci Fi !

We also had lunch there last trip and really liked it (planning another lunch in August). We were seated in the back in a limo (4 of us facing each other).

This place gets HORRIBLE reviews but my familiy & I liked it just fine!:)

We had burgers/chicken etc. The basics. I had the bbq chicken sandwich and it was really good, actually.

It's a nice, cool break from a hot day. Fine dining? Nah, but it's neat and everything was edible, lol. We're planning on going back....the kids liked it enough to request it again!

It's a great experience!

The food always sucks, though. I've eaten a LOT of cheeseburgers in my life and the worst one I ever had, hands down, was at the Sci-Fi. The burgers aren't always horrible, but they are never great.

But, like I said, a very cool experience. :)

We really like it, in fact its the only restaurant we have gone to for each of our seven trips we have kept going to. The theming is very unique and fun. I agree, the menu isn't huge and I think the burgers and sandwiches are the safer bets. We have also had great service each time. But I have seen enough posts complaining about long waits and slow service to make me wonder if whe have just been lucky! I say give it a try, each and every WDW restaurant will have mixed reviews. Just go with the ones that have something on the menu you like and that work with your park touring.

We have had lunch at the Sci-Fi several times and always enjoyed ourselves. As long as your not expecting gormet food you will enjoy it.

We, my DD 13 and I, have eatten there the last 5 out of 7 trips. She loves it. I remember the first time we went and she just sat there with her mouth wide open "catching flies" while the movies played. She forgot we were there to eat. It is truly a restaurant for atmosphere, but isn't almost everything at Disney!

She swears by the BLT soup. Give it a try. If you have kids, I guarantee they will love it!

We have lunch ADR again for our Trip in June. Enjoyed it very much on our last trip April 2005. Great place to get cooled off if going in the HOT season

Hi~I just signed on to ask this exact same question :) We made reservations for Sci-fi and now I'm debating whether or not to keep it, or if we should just eat there for the "experience"

Sci-Fi is one of our favorites:thumbsup2 The atmosphere is what makes it such a great experience. I know this may sound strange. After all one of the reasons for a family vacation is to bond and experience great things with each other. But every now and then it's nice, at least for me, to take a "family break". Sci-Fi lets us do just that while still being together:goodvibes After the food arrives we just eat and watch the silly movie clips and laugh at the waiters as they speak along with the film. I try to schedule a lunch on our 3rd or 4th day. By that time we are ready for quiet family time:rolleyes1

I would recommend sticking with burgers and shakes. Your basics and you should not be disappointed. By the way, the onions rings are very good. In my opinion they are worth the trip.

I have been wondering about this ADR since I made it a few weeks back, because of the mixed reviews. :confused3

But now that we have free dining for our trip, I figure how can we lose. :cool1:

We love going here. We get the burgers and fries and think they are just fine. We do always eat lunch here and try to make the earliest available seating. We have never waited more than 5 minutes to be seated and had good service. Our waitress did mess up one of my son's order but quickly noticed it and gave him a free glow-in-the-dark frisbee to make up for the small mistake. I can't even remember what she messed up, to be honest.

We also liked it because we were able to wheel our Graco DuoGlider stroller in and keep it right beside our car because my younger son was napping. We will definitely be going back for lunch in June.

We have an ADR for this upcoming trip. We'll be having dinner instead of lunch. I looked at the menu for dinner on allearsnet and it was limited but looked ok. We're going mainly for the "experience" and the DDs are really excited about it.
