We will be at MGM the Friday of Thanksgiving weekend. We want to do Teppanyki for dinner and wonder if a sit-down lunch will be too filling. I was thinking of sharing the reuben with DH and then dessert What do you think??? I am just worried about getting a good counter servcie meal on this particular day. For some reason we can never "get it together" at this park and always end up at Pizza Planet. I thought if we had a sit-down PS , it would give us some peace of mind and a place to get away from the madness....

We did lunch at Sci Fi in May and it is a nice break-cool,dark,and everyone enjoyed the food-contrary to most of the reports.I had a burger w/cheese and honestly thought it was 100 % better than the one at Beaches and Cream-and definitely enough to share-we also among our group had the Rueben, the steak and the Tomato/Mozzarella appetizer-we had a vegetarian w/us.Also 2-5 yo-who had a hot dog and fries each.I would definitely do this again. The counter service in MGM leaves alot to be desired IMHO

Sci-Fi is a good idea. Food is good compared to everything else and the atmosphere inside is fun and relaxing. Give it a try!

Really enjoyed Sci-Fi. It's a fun experience and it gets you out of the heat!

WE LOVE SCI-FI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we can never understand why it gets such bad reviews!?!!?!? If you want to read about a funny experience, go over to trip reports and read from "ivyandlace":bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I say go for it! Sci-Fi is a nice lunch time break and IMHO it is one of the best places for lunch at MGM. You can order of the kids menu if you want. This would be a great choice for you.

Sci Fi is an indoor restaurant, set up as a Drive In Movie Theater. They play trailers for all those tacky B rate Sci Fi movies, and you eat your meal in cars transformed into eating areas. There are some cars designed with regular tables, but most are set up so that you sit in two or three rows of two with a counter in front of you. This is one of dh and ds' favorite places to go for lunch at WDW. The cheeseburgers, onion rings and milk shakes are great!

We love Sci-Fi!!!! We always have the caesar salad, rueben, milkshakes, and strawberry shortcake and its always great!!!!! Their sandwiches are HUGE and can easily be shared!!!! My sons love the movies and the glowing ice cubes!!!! Can't wait to be there again next week!!!!!!!:) :) :)

These are our two favorite restaurants at MGM and we ate at both last week. I usually don't make PS's for them until we arrive that morning in MGM and have a handle on when lunch would be best. I've always had good luck with ressies after 1:30.

My kids are 14, 12 and 3 and all of them loved both restaurants. Sci Fi is particulary fun because they are sitting in a car in the darK! They love Prime Time because the waiters pick on the adults more than the kids (as in "keep your elbows off the table or you'll have to sing I'm a little Tea Pot"). My kids were helping me rehearse it in case I got caught again. I hid my veggies under a napkin just to cause trouble. What fun!

We love Teppaniki as well. The food is delicious and the kids love the action. Our 3 yr old ate an entire plate of steak there last week. It was amazing. Then we went downstairs and for $10.00 each child had an oyster opened up and we got to keep the pearl. I didn't have time to go back and have necklaces made there, so I'll do that at a local jeweler for xmas.

Our final dinner last week was at Alfredo's. We had an 8pm ressie, but got seated late and the place was packed....so we sort of missed Illuminations. But we let the kids sneak outside before they ate and they loved it. The food was fantastic - I recommend the Chef's specialty of the week - the risotto. The kids had side dishes of Alfredo of course and the mini mouse had spaghetti and meatballs. She practically finished the entire bowl.
And she's a peanut who never eats anything. We had a wonderful server named Marco. And the chocolate mousse was to die for.

Okay I'm rambling. We had some fantastic meals last week.....

Tell me about he Risotto!!!! I definitely want to try Alfredos' on one of our upcoming trips!
