My DH wants TS which serve you the meal.
We like 50 PT and Brown Derby seems a bit too fancy in their entrees.

We have never eaten at Sci Fi.
I have read the ribs are fatty and tough - so they will not be ordered.
DH & I, DW, like to eat healthy, but are not vegetarians.

Please review what I think we will order:

DH & DW = Italian Grilled Chicken Sandwich, no bun, no cheese and add in some lettuce and tomatoe, dessert would be Fresh Fruit Salad
We would drink Nestea Iced Tea

DS = Angus Chuck Burger, minus the onions, lettuce, tomatoe, drink milk with lunch and for dessert the Peanut Butter-Chocolate Cake or the Hot Fudge Sundae (DS is a true chocolate fan)

DD - kids menu
Tomato Soup with Macaroni & Cheese, & Fruit Salad, drink milk with lunch

Our total price before tip = $77

What do you think of our lunch ?

We would request a CAR table - so we can feel like we are in a drive in.

Also - How graphic are the Sci-Fi movies ?
Are they rated more G ? No heads cut off or bloody scenes ?

Thank you foer your help !

I personally loved the ribs there. Mine werent fatty AT ALL. It was delish!! Their burgers are great too.....but I've never tried their chicken. Sorry. Your choices seem good. Although I wouldnt leave out the bun, I love bread. Lol! You can always leave it with the bun and just remove it if your not happy? At least this way you have an option.

RE: the table....most likely you will be getting a car. They have way more cars than tables. Tables are reserved for large parties. Since its only the 4 of you, i guarantee you'll be in a car. Its so much fun! Sci Fi is one of my fave restaurants. Love the theme.

I didnt find the movie clips scary AT ALL. Theyre quite corny and funny. I do recall some Tom & Jerry clips in there too. I think your kids will be fine with it. There is no blood or heads cut off, dont worry!!! Nothing like that at all. You can always check it out on youtube if you want? im sure its there somewhere.

goofyintoronto - thank you for your review.

Italian Grilled Chicken Sandwich
Does anyone know if the chicken at Sci Fi is dry ?
Is the chicken fully cooked and stil moist ?

Thanks!

We love sci-fi! I don't think you'll be disappointed with the atmosphere. The movie clips are all very much rated G...this is a Disney restaurant, remember, you shouldn't expect to see gore. They're very campy old clips that are far more silly and cheesy than scary or disturbing, don't worry.

As for the food, well the chicken sandwich is decent but can be a little dry, however since you'll be eating it plain that may not be a problem for you. You'll love the cucumber salad!

The hamburger is pretty good by Disney burger standards. Bigger, juicier, and slightly less greasy than counter service burgers. It's a fairly heavy patty though, and the last time I had it even though I had them leave off the bacon, it was still far too much for me and I couldn't finish it. Kinda felt like a brick in my stomach for awhile. If your DS is a big meat eater though he should be fine.

We have not tried the peanut butter chocolate cake but I've read some positive reviews of it. We've eaten at sci-fi three times and the only time we ordered dessert was when we were on the dining plan and 'had to'. We had hot fudge sundaes that time, which were excellent. If it were me though, I'd skip dessert and get their cookies and cream milkshake with my dinner....it's DELICIOUS! Chocolate shake with crushed oreos mixed in. :thumbsup2

Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy it!

Though you are not vegetarians you may want to consider the tofu dish. It's almost $20 but, to us, it's worth it as it's so delicious.

I hope you enjoy your lunch and have fun at DHS.

:)

My sons LOVE ribs, and the ribs at Sci-Fi are amoung their favorite at Disney. We enjoy the Pasta Dish, and the Rueben Sandwich is very good. I have never had the Chicken Sandwich, sorry. We have eaten at Sci Fi probably a dozen times, and have never had a bad meal. We love the cool atmosphere, and say pooh-pooh to the reviews.

I couldnt agree more. I dont care about the reviews either, I just love Sci Fi!! Their atmosphere is amazing....and I love their food!! The ribs, delish! The shakes, tasty!! I have to laugh when ppl go there and complain about limited selection of food. Helloooooo, its a drive in! How many drive-ins do you know that serve something like chicken chow mein, lamb chops, or duck meat balls?! I think they have a pretty good menu considering its suppose to be a drive-in theatre.:goodvibes

I too  Sci Fi. In fact, our kids love it so much, when I told them that on our next trip we weren't likely to eat there (free QSDP) they told me that it wasn't a true HS day unless we had lunch at the Sci Fi. Guess we're paying for that one OOP next time then. :rotfl2:

I've had the PB Choc Cake and it's delicious!!

We always get burgers and fries when we go along with a tasty milkshake. So I can't comment the chicken, sorry.

The movies are definitely G rated. My kids were 5 and 6 on our first visit to the restaurant and we couldn't get them to rip their eyes away from the screen long enough to actually EAT!!

I feel sorry for the people who don't enjoy their experience at this restaurant because it's GREAT!!

Have a great time on your trip!!

When I was there last September I had the chicken sandwich and yes it was dry. We are going back in a few months and plan on ordering a burger.

We loved the atmosphere at Sci-Fi. The highlight was sitting in the car watching corny old movie clips. I don't think you will be disappointed.

We loved Sci-Fi so much that we ate their twice on our trip earlier this month! At that time, we were told that all cars were reserved for people with ADRs. On the first visit, we were lucky enough to get a table as a walk up (at 2:00) but even though there were plenty of open cars, they were holding them for ADRs. So as long are your a party of 4 or less, and you have an ADR, I think there is a pretty good chance that you'll get a car.

Have a great time!

My girls didn't like the tofu, they normally love tofu. Maybe we got a bad batch?

We love Sci-Fi for lunch, especially on a hot day. It's quiet, cool and the movie clips are corny, but not really scary, except,, perhaps to a very young child. We had the cheeseburger and reuben and enjoyed them both. Hope you enjoy it.

We've got our ADR's for November! DH will have the rueben, I'll get the burger. Just the 2 of us, but the last time we went as a family of 4, they sat us in the front 2 rows and another couple in the back of the car. It was fine with us, but the other couple seemed a bit uncomfortable.

Silver Queen.... Hi Neighbor!

We have ADR for Sci- Fi on July 30th! I am super excited.. This will be our 2dn visit ... last time my boys were 3 and 8 and the movies were silly and corny ~ not scary! DH will be getting ribs again (he loved them last time) and me the Reuben .. One son will probably get the hamburger and the other the hot dog ... :cheer2:

We too love Sci-Fi, but just a heads up on the tomato soup. DD8 had it last year and didn't like it at all and she LOVES tomato soup. One of her favorite meals is a grilled cheese and tomato soup, usually Trader Joe's, sometimes Campbells, but she didn't care for the soup at Sci Fi. Of course yours may love it, but just wanted to share our experience.

I've had the burger, the rueben, and the smoked turkey sandwich. All were very good but the turkey sandwich is the winner of the 3. The peanut/chocolate cake is great!!!

We like 50 PT and Brown Derby seems a bit too fancy in their entrees.
Sorry I found this statement to be completely crazy. Brown Derby might be a little more white table cloth than most restaurants but 50's PTC is a good ole homestyle restaurant with many comfort food items that almost everyone loves: fried chicken, pot roast, meatloaf, milkshakes, etc. I don't consider any of those foods fancy.

The Sci Fi is a nice place to dine but the soda is undrinkable and other then the Burgers the food is not good and I am a pure Disney lover...I love most of the food at Disney but the Sci Fi to me is just not good....
