I have never eaten at Sci-Fi, but have always wanted to for the atmosphere. The problem is all the bad reviews I keep reading. I'm still willing to try it, but here's the problem. I hear that the best kind of food they have is hamburgers, onion rings, milkshakes--that kind of food. The problem??? I'm very scared to eat hamburgers in restaurants. Three years ago, my son got a near-fatal case of e. coli--not from eating hamburgers, but since I know this is a way to get it, I like to steer clear of them, unless I cook them myself. Has anyone ever had an issue with an undercooked hamburger? Is there anything else for lunch (or dinner) that would be a better choice?

I've not had any bad experience at Sci Fi or any other Disney restaurant. My advice to you is to either order some other item on the menu, or ask for your burger to be well done. My husband always says, "When I say 'well done' I mean it's ready when the smoke alarm goes off!" Make it a point to emphisize that, and then check the done-ness of the burger before you eat.

The Sci Fi is just amazingly themed and makes for a lovely getaway if you are visiting Disney when the temperatures are high and your feeling exhausted. My dbf and I both ordered the ribs last time and they were really good :thumbsup2!

If the atmosphere sounds enjoyable for you, go in for a snack (onion rings and shakes etc... or dessert:idea:

Sci-Fi is my kids' favorite Disney restaurant. We usually get burgers and fries and shakes, but you should go and try something else!

It really is a cool place!

I think I read here on the Dis within the last couple of weeks someone that had an undercooked hamburger at Sci Fi. She said because it was dark in there she didn't know until she bit into it. She said she didn't get sick from it but decided to have something else. I am going to try to search for the thread.

Check out their menu. They have other stuff besides burgers. Just don't order a burger.

The Angus Chuck Burger is on the menu for lunch. My kids and I may try the ribs. My husband is interested in the Butcher Steak (on the menu for dinner). Has anyone ever tried that?

We ate there at lunch, and I would rate them as "counter service food." Not great, not bad...we do it for the atmosphere. However my husband did love the Oreo shake.

We had the burger, it was fine. It was a fun experience, and the milkshake I had was actually good.

I'd trust them with the turkey sandwich, but anything more complicated seems like too much of a risk from what I've heard (in terms of food quality). I definitely wouldn't expect them to produce awesome ribs or great a wonderful pasta dish, for example.

Sorry, it was Mouseforless not Allearsnet, they have an updated menu from 6/08, the burger's not on there. May be an oversight. I wouldn't be worried because of one bad experience though, try to eat whet you like and ask for food well done. Enjoy your trip!

We always eat at Sci-Fi and have yet to have bad food or bad service. We've done Sci-Fi on the DDP and OOP.

Here are some pictures from our May '08 trip:

Onion Rings (Yummy! Excuse the naked onion at the bottom of the plate, youngest DS only wanted the breading)

Our experiences in the past at the Si-Fi have not been good ones. The burgers looked and tasted as they had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while and the fries were cold and limp. In addition, the service has been poor; slow, and prone to getting orders wrong.

There are only three restaurants at WDW that I will not recommend. This is one of them.

Our grand gathering ate there in June. My mom was not knocked out about the Reuben, but the burger I had(complete with bacon and cheddar) was the best of the week. Our waitress was attentive and personable, and the atmosphere is not to be missed. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
