Sci Fi Dinner Theater worth it?

So the Sci Fi Dinner Theater looks really cool! That said, the menu seems like pretty standard fare and not so drastically different than quick service disney food. We have a quick service dining plan. Do you think it's worth paying out of pocket for this meal in light of that? I realize the food at HS is probably the worst of all the parks but burgers are readily available. Thoughts? Thanks!

The atmosphere is cool. The burgers are going to be better than your quick service, but not gourmet. It just depends if you want a fun dinner knowing that you are paying mostly for the experience.

Everyone should go there at least once. The atmosphere is very unique & fun. The food is not bad, but in my opinion, the food is just "Okay". There are places at Disney Hollywood that would prefer based on food. We love the 50's Prime Time Cafe and Mama Melrose. The Sci-Fi is worth going to though (Mostly for the atmosphere). I'm sure that there are others who will feel the food is more then just "okay".

It's the best themed eatery on WDW property, hands down in my opinion. You're going for the theme & not really the food, it's by design a little bit better fast food. That said, I have always enjoyed my meals here & it's a must do every time we visit for us.

Totally agree with the others. We (the two of us) know we are just going to get burgers but the nice thing is we can each get what we want on the burger so my husband is happy with his with American cheese, bacon and BBQ sauce while I can have mine with Swiss, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. We can take our time and have fun with the silly movie clips and just relax for a while.

How do you define "worth". Is it the food? Is it the experience? Is it the atmosphere? Is it the cost?
Worth is a totally subjective, personal thing
We have chosen to not go to SciFi over many years of WDW visits. At DHS we choose to go to 50's PTC for the food and the experience.
Good Luck

OP, I would save Sci-Fi for another visit when you are not on QSDP. Food is too similar to most QS; if you're going to pay OOP for a TS, I'd choose differently. Either stick with American food and eat at 50s PT, for a more dinner-type meal (vs sandwiches) or visit another TS, possibly in Epcot, to branch out beyond American cuisine.

For the record, my family doesn't care for Sci-Fi. Tried it years ago, theming just didn't work for us and food only okay. But everyone should try it for themselves. Just not sure this is the best time for your family.

Actually the food is good. I mean unless you're looking for a five star Kobe burger and truffle fries, but the Rubens, burgers and fried dill pickles are very good! The food combined with the atmosphere, the ambience and the totally cute reproduction of an actual old time drive-in is just fun and yes it's worth doing! My issues with 50's PTC, no lunch fare other than a salad! A diner should have a burger or a club, the concept of a milkshake with pot roast doesn't work!

We're doing exactly that on our next trip! I've always wanted to go for the atmosphere and with the way our flights work out, we're going to need to pay OOP for a meal anyway. I'm planning to stick with burgers enjoy the experience!

We have tried this place 4 times each time saying that it should be good ... Im sorry it just doesn't do it for us... When the kids were small it was something fun to try, but the bottom line is that the food is just not that good here.. Haven't been back in about 6years

We tried it on our trip last year and loved the atmosphere. It is unlike any other place on property (or anywhere else we've ever been for that matter). My kids still talk about it and loved how they got to sit in a car to eat dinner. The food is average but not awful, typical of what you might find at QS type restaurants in the parks. We will be going back in the future. This year we are trying 50's Prime Time for a different experience. I definitely think you should try it at least once.

I loved Sci-Fi, my 7 year old son thought it was really cool as well. He liked watching the old black and white movies. We are going again in December, I don't see us really caring for anything else at DHS.

We love this place, and have gone on almost every trip (it's DD's favorite!).
The prices for a TS meal are reasonable, and the sandwiches are quite big! I usually get some sort of sandwich and onion rings, and have a hard time finishing it! The prices aren't much more than a CS place if you stick to sandwiches.
We've always found the quality to be very good.
We are on the QS plan next trip (free) and may decide to do a walk-up and just get a snack, but we're waiting until we get there and see how we feel. With the QS plan in place, it is probably going to be enough food for us, though.
Since you have the QS plan, I think you'll have to decide if you will use all your credits. If you feel you will use them anyway, not wasting one, then I would go ahead and dine there. It is super cute, and last trip our waitress was amazing!!! I agree it's somewhere that you have to go once at least!
I don't know if it's cool in there, or it's the fact that it is dark in there, but I always need a little sweater. It's a very nice break from the heat.

Well, for us we think it is worth it. Sci fi is one of our favorite restaurants and one that we have to go back to each trip. DH, DD14, and myself all like the cheese burger (like the PP said, we can put what we want on them) while DD12 likes to get the Smoked Turkey Sandwich. We also really like the theme of the restaurant, from the car hops to sitting in the classic cars and acting like you are in a real drive in movie, to the corny science fiction clips, little space cartoons, and the dancing snacks telling us we should go to the concessions...it is all fun.

Must do for us!! usually lunch or very early dinner.
- Probably the most imagineered restaurant on property and actually has a story.
- One of the most reasonable OOP Table Service on property.
- Dark, fairly quiet and A/C which is often quite welcome in the middle of the day.
- Other than the steak we have enjoyed all our meals.
- Good selection of appetizers.
- My MUST HAVE dessert - "Out of this World Turtle Cheesecake" - and I don't normally eat dessert.
- Been on QSDP and still ate here since we find DHS QS very disappointing.
