Just curious. It looks like it may be fun for my 9 and 11 year old boys. How is the food? Is it worth a reservation?

We went for the first time this september and it was one of the best meal we had ! Food and atmosphere. I only regret I hesitate 3 years before try it because of bad review in the unofficial guide. Make a reservation to be sure to have a car. My 6 yo old boy really liked the place!

We love the atmosphere at the sci fi and go for lunch every trip. After more than 20 visits, we still love it. The food is not great, it's just average, but who can resist sitting in those little cars watching those ridiculous movie clips.

I think that for 9 and 11 year old boys it's a "must try"....my DS's LOVE it there. I would definitely recommend the glow cups with the cool ice cubes as an added surprise. :)

It's great for kids that age (and their parents!). You sit in "cars" at an old-fashioned "drive-in" while you eat your burgers and shakes, watching old "B" movie trailers that are really more funny than scary. We avoided it for years because of bad reviews until a friend convinced me to try it. Well, we loved it!!! A nice plus to this place is that it's a nice, dark, quiet (since all the kids are listening to the movies) break from running around DHS.

We go there at least once on every trip. The trick for us is to stay with hamburgers and shakes, which are good. When they weren't on the dinner menu, they still let us order them, so we were happy.:)

The atomosphere is great, the food is mediocre and not the draw here. If you stick to simple dishes and go expecting ok food you'll be fine.

This place was always a family favorite. We went every trip. We're now done with the Sci-Fi.

If you've never been before you'll have nothing to compare it too and should be fine.

That said, the food has gone way downhill and the funny 50 movie clips have mostly been replaced by 40 clips of "let's go to the concession stand" and a cartoon. I actually apologized to our first time guests that we had been raving to about this restaurant when we took them. The campy sci-fi clips weren't there for their amusement.

It is a must for dinner our first day here. The kids really like it. We usually get the ribs and they aren't bad. We really like watching the old movie clips and laugh at the way the monsters were made.

We really love this place. Think of it as an attraction...I can't imagine a trip to DHS without a visit here. As others have said, the hamburgers are good, and last time I got the "steak and blue cheese" salad and really enjoyed it. Your boys will love it and remember it!:thumbsup2

just make sure you get the ribs.....The steak was awful.....The kids enjoyed the atmosphere....we had kids ranging from 21 months to 11. The food was horrible in my opinion....now everyone has different ones. But Id give it a try....always try it once. if you dont like it you dont have to go back agian....but you'll never know if you like it or not if you dont try it....

Well, if you want our honest opinion, DH and I thought the food and service were absolutely terrible. This is the only WDW restaurant that we can say that about. The atmosphere was undoubtedly awesome but, for us, that couldn't make up for the horrible food. If we ever went back, we would only get a milkshake and maybe some onion rings. And we followed the advice about sticking to burgers and fries. It was perhaps the worst burger I had ever tasted EVER. And even dessert was horrible. I'm really not exaggerating here. This was our honest experience. I spent the rest of the afternoon regretting our decision to eat there.

All that being said, like others have suggested, you really have to try it for yourself to form an opinion. I'm a strong believer in that. That's why we went.

We've been many times and never had a bad meal. I think the boys will get a kick out of the atmosphere.

We went for the first time in June. I knew it got bad reviews but I figure everyone has different taste buds. We loved this place. I had two boys on that trip. Well three actually. DS12, Dboyfriend 29, and DNephew9. They all loved it. Boyfriend ordered the steak and it was sooo yummy, melt in your mouth. the veggies were crisp. I ordered chicken and it was yummy too.

I think you should go with "go for the atmosphere; be pleasantly surprised at the food" attitude. I go in expecting nothing. I love the themed restaurants and all have something different to offer. Remember your families taste buds are different from everyone elses.

***forgot to add: we are going back in May (darn AP's) and this was at the top of my boys list of places to eat.

While the atmosphere is unique and entertaining, the food is boring, bland, and unappetizing. We found the service to be below average as well.

I think that if you go in knowing that you're not going to get great food or outstanding service, you'll have a good time just enjoying the restaurant itself.

If you order the burger or something else simple, you can get a pretty good meal. I must say, it was better than expected. Just don't order anything complicated; stick with things they can't mess up. Shrimp or Pasta would be a no-no there, and the salads aren't so great; I'd even skip the turkey sandwich from our experience. But their burgers were just superb, as was the Artichoke Dip and the BLT Soup. The milkshakes are good too.

But you go for the atmosphere! The kids just love it. Each member of the family gets to choose a restaurant each trip, and DD (now 9) always picks Sci Fi these days.

Enjoy! :goodvibes

It's alright. I don't remember anything too terrible about the food, but then again, nothing all that exquisite either. We sat in the car tables when we went (a party of 6), so conversating took a lot of turning and craning around since we all sat two by two.

Overall though, the atomosphere is fun and it's defenitely something different that you'll remember.
