Hello,

I have a reservation booked for 6.45pm at the sci-fi diner on an evening where the star wars fireworks are scheduled for 8.00pm.

1) Do they usually run relatively to time for reservations?

2) If they do, would 1 hour-ish be enough to eat our meal for service time etc.? (We are on ddp so will get desserts too)

3) If the answer is no to either of the above, if we turn up early is there a chance we could get seated earlier?

I realise that we wouldn't necessarily get good spots for the fireworks as won't be able to stake out in advance, and I know its not ideal to rush the meal either. I am trying to find an earlier reservation but no luck so far. The other alternative is to cancel the meal and get somewhere in Disney Springs afterwards instead but this would be our only chance to eat there and it is my BFs first visit.

Thank you!

1. By that time of night, no. Expect 15-30 minutes wait on ADR time.

2. Maybe. But the problem is that people start staking out positions for the SW fireworks around 6 o'clock, and where you sit for those is fairly important as they are much more than just pyro. It's not "wouldn't necessarily." You won't get good spots showing up at 7:55 for an 8PM show.

3. No. They will not check you in any sooner than 10 minutes early.

Answers:
1.) It's a popular restaurant at a popular dinner hour, so anticipate some wait to be seated.
2.) Cast Members will try their best to accommodate a family trying to dine in a hurry. And anyone can ask for their check as soon as you've placed your order.
3.) The typical response is, "No." Sometimes, folks suggest checking-in up to 15-minutes prior.
3a.) And then there's the nuance of any particular restaurant on any particular day that may or may not be able to do anything for you. In other words - don't count on being accommodated.

My thoughts:
-- Keep trying for an ADR for 6-6:15pm
-- The smaller your party, the better your chances. Reason at Sci-Fi is because of the (mostly) 2-by-2 seating.
-- Salads are quicker to prepare than chicken wings.
-- Get your dessert to-go.

You could try to get a lunch reservation instead and just do a quick service dinner later.

My answer to all 3 questions is "maybe" because they all depend on many factors. At Sci-Fi, I've been able to do a walk-up, I've had a 45 min wait for my ADR, a meal has taken about an hour, and a meal has taken more than 2 (slow service that night).

If the show is a priority, then try to move than ADR back. If that isn't a possibility, I'd switch it to something else for dinner...we enjoy Mama Melrose, for what it is worth. I might even switch my CS to dinner and have TS for lunch or breakfast that day.

Being fortunate enough to have taken a number of trips has taught me that if I have to ask myself if my schedule is cutting it too close, it is. I rush enough in my real life, I don't want to do it at Disney.

Thanks for all your responses :) I think I'll keep trying for an earlier adr, I've heard about people getting more luck around 24 hours out due to last min cancellations. It is just the two of us so maybe we will be lucky. Otherwise we will pick one or the other. It would ruin the meal if we are rushing to get away.

Its just frustrating that we booked the meal at the 180 day mark when we had no idea if or when the fireworks would be on!

Oh well if we miss sci-fi this time it will be an excuse to take my boyfriend on another trip!
