Sci-fi Dine-in theatre

My kids were bored out of their minds. The movies are black and white and outdated to the new generation. The food was okay IMHO.
The milkshakes were good and the service was good too.

We won't go back. They would be better off running a disney movie. That would be just as cool.

I don't think so. Kids can watch Disney movies at home. Or by the pool at night at Disney resorts.

What makes Sci-Fi so deliciously fun and cheesy is the... sci fi theme. I can't understand how kids could be bored here. If so, I'd hate to think of how they tolerate restaurants with no entertainment?!

We never miss Sci Fi. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews. It's a burger and shakes place. Just don't go expecting steaks or fancy food. It's fun!!! We always make a reservation for around 3 if we are at HS in the daytime. It's a great place to cool off. As for it being dark, it has to be. You eat by the "dashboard" lights of your car. It feels like you are really outside at the drive in. The waiters and waitresses make it fun. Last time my son got a Sci Fi driver's license. We also love the glow in the dark cups with the sci fi logo. Ask about them if don't see them on the menu. We use them all the time at home. Definitely make a reservation. As we were waiting for our table last time, DD and I counted ELEVEN people that walked in asking for a table in about 10 minutes time.

Just noticed that you are from KC. We are also from Missouri. And also headed back to Disney at the same time as you! Have fun!

Definitely have to agree.. Sci Fi is a must-do every trip for us... :thumbsup2 And just wanted to throw in I am also from Missouri and will be headed back to the Poly for another wdw vacation in 32 days! Just wanted to say Hello and enjoy your upcoming vacation to the fellow Missouri Diser's...:wave2:

I hope you enjoy your Poly stay, we'll be there Halloween week, yippee!

My heart is in MO, even if my body is in TX, so I'm waving to fellow KCer's/Missourians too :wave2: LOVE KC!

We're planning an ADR at Sci-Fi on day 1 for lunch and have never been, either. Most of the poor reviews have been about the dinner-type entrees. I've heard plenty of positive/neutral things about the burgers so I'm willing to try it. Mostly, I just want a nice dark and cool place to sit. Give our brains a break from all of that stimulation!

I wouldn't choose to do two restaurants for a meal just because of the time it will use, but if you're going to poke around anyway that wouldn't be a big deal.

We are the same as you its our first full day tradition. DH says it would not be the same if we did not go there for lunch.

Food always been good and the service both fast and friendly.

I have had the burgers several times and I have also had the pasta with chicken rather than shirmp and both were huge portions and lovely. DH again burgers and he had the steak which was cooked to his liking and more than large enough.

We love the adult milkshakes and we also order cherry cokes as they make them properly as opposed to the pre made.

We love the clips and just the fun idea of eating in the cars. But we are fans of the 50's style cars and the movies are funny.

On a side note we watched the blob in full the other night and both of us said it was not the same as seeing the clip in the Sci Fi :rotfl2:

We love this place! Its a tradition to do this as well for us. I am thinking about doing this for lunch on our departure day..... is the wait long for lunch? I wanted to make the ADR for like 1230 and I dont want them to be behind. If we have to catch the ME at 3 than that should be enough time right?

IMO ADR's are definintely needed (we have had quite a wait for this restaurant in the past). The food is great (and the portions are large). The atmosphere is also amazing!!! My only problem with this location is that I wish they didn't show the sci-fi & B movies (but that is just a personal issue)... I would dine here EVERY TIME if they changed the movies just based on the atmosphere (cars that you sit in, lighting, etc...) and the food. Enjoy!!

Surely my 4 year old would enjoy this right or is it more for older kids?

My 4 year old loved it when we went. Even his 21 month old sister loved it. They think it is cool to eat in a car and watch the "big screen". We are going this May and the kids will be 4 and 7.

I would make the ADR for 11:30 instead of 12:30 - by 12:30 you may have a wait to be seated, even with ADR. Plus it could take over an hour to eat. Then you have to walk to the front of the park and get the bus to your resort, get your bags, etc. Better safe than sorry - and you dont want the meal runied bc you are rushed!

I will make my reservations tonight. Laptop is easier than trying to make them on my phone.. As far as people from missouri on here... Yes I live in kc misery but rock chalk jayhawk KU. ha ha

If I don't want to pay $16 for a burger can we still go there just to check it out and have desert? also do I really need reservations? IS it much more than a steak-n-shake or windsteads? i mean I have I love lucy reruns on tv everyday and I turn away from them everyday... Do tell is it a cool atmosphere?

We went last Memorial Day, during Star Wars Weekends. We didn't have ADR, but were setted within 10 minutes. I liked the atmosphere....but the food-yuck. We ordered the special Star Wars dessert as a treat, and none of us could bare another taste after the first bite--and only one of us is a picky eater.

Is it correct that the lunch and dinner menus here have the same prices? I know some TS restaurants are cheaper for lunch but I don't think this is one of them. True?

All restaurants at WDW get bad reviews, even the holy grails like Le Cellier.

This is so funny and true. I wouldn't eat at Le Cellier again. The food was too rich for me, everything so rich, my poor stomach couldn't handle it! I'm not saying it didn't taste good, but I just don't eat like that usually.

This is true. Everyone has different tastes, and with so many ppl visiting disney each day, its not surprising that almost every restaurant gets a negative review. Im one of the ones who doesnt really care for the "holy grail" le cellier. I find it very over rated, the steak wasnt good at all. But thats another thread!

Sci Fi is a burger & shakes place, so i dont get the bad rap. Do ppl go there expecting gourmet food? The burgers are good, and the shakes are awesome. The atmosphere is quite unique and a ton of fun. My son loves it just as much as I do! I think its a must do at least once in your life. :thumbsup2

Is all of the seating in cars? Or should I ask for that when I check in? I wouldn't want a "normal" table here, right???

Yes. Sometimes you can get in as a walk in, but you'll likely get a table. Definately make an ADR.

Or is it just that it's not a regular social sharing-a-meal-together type of atmosphere - more of a movie with food?
Yes, more of a movie with food. You can certainly talk but it's a quieter atmosphere.

Surely my 4 year old would enjoy this right or is it more for older kids?
Yes, a 4 year old would enjoy. There are monters on the screen but it's very old style and not really scary at all. It's pretty cool.

It's very dark in there and yes, it's hard to see your food. I loved the place. I took a quick video with my camera if you want to see what it looks like inside.

It's an annual thing for us. Love the burgers, shakes and onion rings. We have seen the old movies so many times we know them by heart. A lot of fun and a good lunch as well.
