We rarely eat out, we tend to pack most of our food. But we are trying to plan a few lunches or dinners out for the kids. Some of their requests are BOG, Rainforest Café, ESPN Zone. Those we know from experience. But we came across the Sci-Fi. What is it like? Do they show full movies, or just clips? We're debating between that and doing dine-in theater at the theater in Disney Springs.

It's clips of old sci-fi movies and cartoons. It's set up like a drive-in and you sit in "cars". We have fun there. It's nice and quiet, cool and dark.

It's a unique, fun experience with decent burgers and onion rings, and more "affordable" than most WDW sit down places.

This is one of my kids favorite places! Even if you don't want to do a full meal, you could order some fries and a drink or enjoy a milkshake and soak up the AC!

It is a great place to take a break from the park for a little bit! I think your kids would enjoy it!

It's actually movie TRAILERS ("previews") of really campy "bad" low-budget '50's and '60's sci-fi, outer space and monster movies.
Those are intermixed with sappy "newsreel" clips about outer space, and questionable "science" from back in the '50's and '60's.
A few classic cartoons, a clip or two with Mr. Walt Disney, and, of course, "snack bar" commercials.

Ads for campy sci-fi movies from the 50's, interspersed with classic drive-in refreshment ads from the 50's. We liked it. The dark and cool of the theater are especially refreshing during a hot summer day.

It doesn't look like the reel has changed in 25 years. (I was opening crew, way way back in the day.)

That's it, I'm changing my September ADR from Prime Time Cafe to Sci Fi. It's been YEARS.

It... it changed when they did the Galactic Breakfast last year for the now defunct Star Wars Weekends...

We took our son when he was 5 and he loved it. The food was great and the milkshakes were delicious. Fills up fast so grab a reservation if you can.

It's a cute theme but the food is pretty meh. It was one of our worst meals all week last summer. 50's Prime Time or Mama Melrose has much better food if you care about that part at all.

I assume from your tears that they changes didn't stay? Or they did and they are not good changes?

They decided that last year would be the *last* year for Star Wars Weekends and with that went the Galactic Breakfast. I guess it's possible they might bring it back once Star Wars land is open.

That's my assumption too. I hope so, because I'm a big fan of Sci Fi and of Star Wars. It seems like a perfect fit. I only ate there once, but it was such a fabulous experience that I know I'll do it again. I was expecting pretty standard Disney food, but everything on my black bean burger tasted super fresh. Even the bun tasted like it had just come right out of the oven. Plus the atmosphere is so in keeping with the HS theme, but the dark and AC make it a nice breather from the chaos of the parks. The cars are cute, the movie reel is cute, and it's where I picked up my first glow cubes. Sci Fi is definitely a favorite of mine!

It's a fun experience. It does book fast though, book soon if you are interested. I've been going there since I was a kid and have always enjoyed it. On my last visit, I was surprised at how good the food was (before that I always found it average). I had the chicken pasta, it was soooo good. Some others in our party got the steak and raved about it. Of course, you can't beat the milkshakes too. The movie clips are cheesy fun.

It is a fun atmosphere and a cute theme. Food was ok. Not terrible, not great. Our waitress was not very attentive, so they may have colored my view of it. I think everyone should try it once, but I do no0t see us ever going back.

We (DH & I) enjoyed it, sitting in the backseat of a convertible having burgers & shakes at a "drive in" was a lot of fun. Especially since we can remember when there actually WERE drive ins.
