Hello- Just checked to see if I could get an adr at sci-fi in dec... and there is nothing open. What are the chances we could walk in... and not wait forever? Can you even walk-in at disney???

You can but might have ain't wait and more then likely you will get a table in the back and not a car.. Try it good luck luv sci-if restaurant... Gonna eat there again in Oct.

We were able to do a walk up around noon at the end of last August. (Free Dining and all..).

We did not get a car, though, b/c we were walk up. Only picnic tables in back were open..

Yes, you can have a walk-in at Disney...whether or not you can get one at Sci-Fi is the question.

How big is your party? That will make a difference. A party of two can sometimes be "hitchhikers" in another party's car.

Would you eat there if it wasn't in a car? You can if the picnic tables are open.

When in December? If it's too close to Christmas...you may have a problem.

We once did a walk up at opening and got seated. Since there was just two of us we were placed in the back seat of another group's car. I don't particularly care for that seating arrangement but you take what you can get.

Lunch will be easier than dinner. I do walk-ups all the time at Sci-Fi as a solo diner at lunch. As others have said, the time of month, how many in your party, and time of day will affect your chances.

Yes, I echo what the PP said. They is no way to know for sure if you'll be able to get a walk-up for the time/date you want. I was there in October and March and both times they were telling walk-ups to try back later (this was for dinner around 6:00 pm), so they weren't taking walk-ups at that point.

As a PP said, walk-ups are most likely placed at the patio tables in the back. They seat the folks with the ADRs in the cars, unless an ADR party asks about the patio table.

Given that your trip isn't until December, I would keep checking for an ADR. People's plans do change and ADRs may come open. I'd rather have an ADR in hand and know that I'll be able to eat at Sci Fi, rather than chance it as a walk-up.

Keep checking online to see if something comes up, especially if you want to sit in a car. Some restaurants are easier to walk up and get seated, but Sci Fi is popular so it is one of the harder ones. Best chance for walking up probably would be at opening.

Twosomes are usually seated in the third row of a car as "hitchhikers." You could ask at the podium to be seated in the front row - the worst the CMs could say is "no." We're a party of 3 and we've always had "hitchhikers" behind us, never in the front row. If it was a matter of sharing a car with another family I don't think you would be able to get a car for just the two of you.

I just want to say that DH and I are going during FD in Sept. It took checking often but an ADR did finally come up. As PP said I would keep checking.

Sci Fi is always busy! Walk ups are few & far between keep checking! Don't give up!!

Both times we've eaten at Sci-Fi they were turning away walk-ups. If you really want to eat there then keep trying for an ADR. Not only that but I heard people walking away grumbling about no TS availability anywhere in DHS.

There's no harm in walking up to the podium when you're there but be prepared with a backup plan. If you'll be fine with CS then no worries. If you really want TS then book something else and then keep trying for this ADR and cancel the other one when/if you get Sci-Fi.
