Hi,
I can't find (I am sure its somewhere but I keep getting a bit lost, sorry :sad2: ) a description of the wheelchair seating for this really cool restaurant in Hollywood Studios.

It has been years since I have been there and would like to go back with DD next year who uses a manual wheel chair.

Do they have any of the cars into which a wheel chair will fit?

If now, how much room is there between the cars for someone to transfer from a wheel chair to a 'regular' (ugh) seat?

Thank you very much,
Dan

Dan I will try to get a picture for you in Oct. if you want. It's pretty dark in there so I'm not sure it would turn out but we have last seating so maybe they might turn the lights on if asked so late just for a quick pic as everyone is leaving? I know they have accomodations I simply don't remember the set up I don't believe she would have to transfer out of her chair. I believe if I remember correctly she can just pull up to the back of a car and it has a shel like table set up if I remember correctly.

Thanks very much djblu883.

Your last sentence is what I vaguely remember .... I think, as it was many, many years ago. Yet, that memory of mine seems to indicate that it was not too convenient.

I am curious about the space between the cars (although she could use my hands to get out of her chair). Since she never sits in the front of our real car / van (she's very slight and small for her age) I think it would be neat for her to be able to sit and eat up in the 'front seat' of a car....yet I'm not sure of the spacing up there either. (must be a slow night on google as I can't seem to find close-up pic's....then again, as you point out djblu883 it is dark in there so that could be the reason.

There are some cars which have the table sideways, which people have pulled out the chair and replaced it with a wheelchair. This shows one of those type tables.

THis picture shows the spaces on the regular cars a bit.

Those are really good pic's SueM, thank you.

After looking at those I think we'll likely try the 'regular' cars, trying to get a front seat / row and let the CM worry about what do to with her wheel chair while we dine.

For me, those side tables in the cars kill a lot of the atmosphere + having to twist my head to watch the 'show' just won't do.

The wdw photo page has a lot of good pictures. wdwinfo.com is the parent site for the DIS Boards.

I believe you need to log in to do a search.
If you go to the advanced search, you can search for a particular poster’s photo album, searching by their user name. My photo album currently has about 260 photos, a lot of them show accessibility, like ride cars.

We were just there on Sunday. There are the sideways table cars, but I think there are only two. Both were full when we checked in, despite having an ADR that requested wheelchair accessibility. We were told we'd have to wait at least 45 minutes if she couldn't transfer. :( We ended up transferring dd to a regular car, and the CM parked her wheelchair for us. We saw another family do the same. DD really enjoyed the restaurant, though I about had a heart attack worrying about her pulling a tube out at the regular table in the dark!

Thank you SueM,
I just went there and saw a lot of pic's for the Sci-Fi.

This place (DIS boards and WDW) is huge......I need a good tour guide like you! :rotfl2: Reminds me of the size of a certain theme park!:wizard:
