Sci Fi Dine In Question!

I think I may have already asked this, but I don't believe I got an answer as it was a bit off topic in another thread of mine.

Currently the girlfriend and I have two reservations for the Sci Fi Dine In at DHS, one at 7ish on a Monday and the other at 4ish on a Thursday (I went so nuts on ADRs I'm having trouble remembering them all!) and I heard that the burgers and shakes are amazing there, but I have also heard they are only on the lunch menu, and I don't believe 4pm falls under lunch, certainly 7pm doesn't. Does anyone have a positive answer, yes or no, on whether I can order from the lunch menu for dinner reservations? Those burgers and shakes are pretty much the only reason I want to go! :)

The burgers are nothing special. Do get the onion rings though.
I don't know about ordering lunch at dinner time.

I have never eaten at Sci-Fi but remember reading in people's trip reports that they were disappointed the burger wasn't on the dinner menu, but asked for and were told it was no problem. So if you don't see it on the menu, just ask!

I've eaten at the Sci-Fi Dine In for dinner in September 2007 and September 2008, and plan to again for dinner this coming September. The previous trips I was always able to order a burger even though it wasn't on the dinner menu. And I also had an oreo milkshake each time. Yummy!

That's exactly the answer I was looking for! Thank you.

Anyone else have something to chime in on the topic?

Yea, I'm amazed the usual malcontents that expect a five star meal at a themed restaurant haven't chimed in! :goodvibes

My family went there and had a great time. The theming is neat, the food - burgers and shakes were good. No one died or got food poisoning as has been reported by others.

SciFi is worth a try, especially if you have kids.

I hope you have a great time.

The food here is okay. It's certainly not 4 star but in my opinion it's a don't miss type of place to visit at least once. The atmosphere is great and we always have so much fun there. It's my 9 year olds favorite. would ask for the burger as my daughter only like chicken nuggets and they were able to get them for her even thou they were not on the menu.Have fun!:thumbsup2

We have eaten there the past three trips, all were very good experiences except the last one. We had the onion rings for app and they were great. Thank goodness because none of our entrees were very good.

The three of us had the pasta dish (ice cold), black and blue salad, and a burger. We hardly touched any of our food and we are not that picky.

We will skip it on our next trip, but I have not completely given up on it because I really like the place and their adult drinks are outstanding!

Excellent post!

Ok, seems like I'm probably well past OK on this, just one more question....

Any experiences with the milkshakes during dinner hours? I have a feeling that's the more problematic option. Also has anyone NOT been able to order from the lunch menu for dinner?

Thanks all!

We had lunch at Sci-Fi in February and loved it. The food was good and hot, the service was excellent and we really enjoyed sitting in the "car" and watching the cartoons/movies vignettes.

I had heard to stick with the basics and that's what I suggested to my family. We ended up getting:
Milkshakes (1 strawberry and 1 chocolate for my mom and DH) they were delicious. My daughters kept turning around and stealing sips.
DH: Bacon Cheeseburger with fries - very good burger, mass quantity and the fries were crispy, hot and so yummy.
Me: Veggie burger (not on menu, but available anytime) with fries - SO good, especially with sauteed mushrooms and cheddar cheese. WOW!
Mom: Chili - she really liked this and talked about it days later.
DD5 & DD 22 months - split the kids pizza. The server had it split in the kitchen and plated on separate Mickey plates with apples on each. SO sweet! They really enjoyed it.

A friend of mine told me she was able to sub the onion rings for the fries, but I forgot. :sad1: I would try to do that if you're headed there, because the O-rings are supposed to be awesome (and the fries were nothing special).

I'm sure this was just a one-time thing, but I ordered my burger med-well (don't like pink), and it was charred to a crisp. Next time I would probably say medium (I didn't want to send it back because we had been there so long already and we were anxious to get back out to the park).

It will be a while before we return because believe it or not, we didn't care for the theming (SOO dark). But everyone should try it! :thumbsup2

We've been to Sci Fi over ten times in the pasta five years and we always get the burger at dinner and always get milkshakes. When on the DDP, they have let us get milkshakes for our drink and also get dessert if we wanted.

We love Sci Fi, for the experience and we have always enjoyed our meals. I also love the Reuben and my husband likes their ribs.

And like every place else, if your food comes out cold or not cooked properly, send it back! I had to do that once, I am very cautious about pink burgers, with my kids especially and rather than risk it, or have her not eat it, I sent it back. The waitress was very nice and brought dd out a bunch of crackers to munch on while her burger was cooked properly. They also bought us a free dessert (not on the DDP that trip).

No, its not four star. But very few place at WDW are!

burgers and shakes are ALWAYS available anytime! but they have other great foods there too! i love the shrimp pasta! and when i was there on 7/20 it looked like everyone else around me loved it too!

I have a question for all you sci-fi experts. Do parties of 5 sit at the same type of car seating as parties of 4?

What they will do is seat your party in a three row car. Two in two rows, one in the third. If you have a child (or children) with you, you can fit three in one row so that nobody has to sit alone!

I am so glad I came upon this thread and saw that someone ordered a veggie burger. My DS9 really wanted to try the SciFi Diner on our upcoming trip but I didn't know if he would find anything he would enjoy eating. This is my first pass through the restaurant forums and I've already got my answer. Thanks!!:thumbsup2

We are eating here for the first time in Oct- good to hear some good reviews.

Do they usually seat parties of 2 in the cars?

Do they usually seat parties of 2 in the cars?

And if not, do I have to specifically request that if I want it? My girlfriend and I are very attached to that idea. I made the ADR online and I don't remember it prompting me about seating. Should I call?
