This looks like a fun place that my serious sci-fi dh and dd14 would get a kick out of. I'm worried though that our large family of 6 won't fit into one of the "cars". Are the car seats made up of a booth? How many people can comfortably be seated?

TIA!:goodvibes

There are some cars that fit 6 - they are 3 rows that fit 2 people each.

We are a family of 7 we always did it. But that's when my boys were younger. We haven't eten there in about 4 to 5 years.

Are the rows all facing the same direction (so that the third row looks at the back of the second row's head)?

Yes, all the seats in the cars face the screen at Sci Fi so you can watch the flicks.

Some tables for 6 are actual tables, so there are 3 people facing each other, but neither side facing the screen, you would have to turn to face the screen. Those have real chairs that you pull out and sit in and scoot back up to the table. Then there are actual cars with 3 rows of two, where all rows face the screen.

we fit our family of 8 in the cars. yes they sit in a row so you look at everyones back. if i were to go again i would choose the car style that had the table in it so we could actually speak with each other while we ate.
we chose the the car we did because we wanted the experience, but the other cars seemed to be having a much better time than we were. we found it annoying.

Yes, and when you don't use all the rows, you get "hitchhikers with you."

You really only chat with the person next to you, but the clips make it so it isn't really a talking friendly restaurant. It is very fun though. We've been there once, and we stuck to burgers because only the very basic food gets decent reviews.

Thanks for all of the quick replies! :goodvibes

Can you request the tables where you face each other when you make your ADRs? I can only imagine how ds and dd7 would behave if they were seated alone with one of their older sisters (or, God forbid, beside each other1:rotfl: )

when you get there they will have pictures of the different car styles, you tell them which you want.

I'm not sure if you can request it like that, but I know when I was in there like last month, when you check in, they tell you, you are guaranteed this type or this type, and they show you pictures, I think it's of the ones that all face the screen. Or they say you can wait for first available, which might include the 3 that face each other. I think that's a less desirable table. At that point you could say, I prefer the ones that face each other. But I would also definitely recommend it when making the ADR just to see if they could reserve it at that time.

I don't think you can request table selection when you made the ADR but really, very few want the picnic tables that face each other so I doubt it'd be a problem to request it when you get there. Just tell the hostess.

We were in a car that held 6 people. We had 10 people. Six of us were on the dining plan and 4 (2 adults & 2 children) were not. Because the 2 children were sitting with their cousins in another car, their mother asked our waitress to add the 2 children to their bill. The waitress at the other car came over and became very rude and insisted that the couple have two separate checks. (I can only assume she was worried about her tip.) :confused3

The burgers are great, but the bread in the turkey sandwich is very dry. So, if you like soft bread, don't order the turkey sandwich.

Have a wonderful trip! pixiedust:

Can you tell me how you were able to seat all 8 of you because we have 8 also and they said we needed two cars, but we have two little ones and we really need to be together.

Thankspopcorn::

when i booked they said we would have 2 cars. when i got there they showed me the car and asked if we could fit in one, i was actually a bit tiffed because i was under the impression i booked 2 cars. we didnt want to wait any longer so we just took it. it was the best fit, but i did work out fine. we had 4 adults and 3 kids. so we sat 2 adults...3 kids(13,8 and 4)....2 adults 1 child(3).
