How is Shulas compared to the Yachtsman or the Flying Fish?

Who has better steaks? Who has better appetizers? Desserts? Environment? Shulas just added a children's menu as well. Thanks in advance.

Shula's is by far suprior. They are a nationally recognized steakhouse. Not that the other two aren't good, but they are not on the same level. Like thinking a Lexus is a nice car until you ride in a Rolls Royce.

They certainly have the better steak. Yachtsman would come next after that.

You'll pay more, but the beef quality will be better, too. All a matter of what you're willing to spend.

Thanks. Is this atmosphere nicer as well? Did you dress up or do business casual? We like the Yachtsman and like the Flying Fish as well, so I was just curious. I have a reservation for FF and Shula's for our next trip.

Shulas is more like Ruth's Chris or the Palm. Traditional, "scotch and cigar", steakhouse. Darker and more formal than the Yachtsman or FF. They treat children wonderfully.

I agree - Shula's is the best option (very much like a Morton's or a Ruth's Chris). A very high quality steak. I haven't had a lot of their appetizers, but they have good salads and their french onion soup is good too.

Had a steak once at Flying Fish and it was very good, but not in Shula's category.

Shulas is definitely best but very very expensive...I love Yachtsman though

^ Here's Shula's menu....

It's a wonderful restaurant with superior steaks and seafood.

The atmosphere is very adult, with a masculine, sports lover sort of feel.
Dress is "business casual". No shorts or tanks...

When I called down to Shula's at the Dolphin, she said men could wear a nice pair of non jean shorts, collar shirt and closed toe shoe.

Shula's has great steaks, and is more traditional as far as steak houses go.

It is dramatically better than Ruth's Chris, I prefer it to Morton's but don't consider it empirically "better".

Shula's also has excellent lobster - cooked any way you want. You can get a monstrous bug there.

It's more of a business atmosphere than resort atmosphere. I can eat in a Shula's lots of places (and have). Yummy! So at Disney, I go to Yachtsman and love it there too. It's a different steak, not a classic thick charbroiled item you get at Shula's. This does not mean that is isn't great - it is. I also prefer the (slightly) more relaxed atmosphere.

If you can't or haven't gone to Shula's - give it a try, you'll like the food. If you've been to one or there's one near you at home, consider going somewhere you can't go at home.

Hoping to get there this fall since I won't be paying for dining at Disney.

I'm itching to try the iced seafood platter appetizer: chilled Maine lobster, oysters, crab cocktail and shrimp.

The other half worked on a shrimp boat many years ago, and detests seafood, argh!

We can go to Shula's at home, but haven't. There is Ruth Chris and Morton's here too.

I guess I may be in the minority, but my feeling is so much of the food at most of the WDW restaurants is average at best, but with a higher price tag.

We have been to the FF and Yachtsman, and think compared to the other restaurants on property, these are 2 of the better ones.

The food at the California Grill just doesn't interest me at all. Brown Derby is ok, LeCellier is below fair, haven't tried Narcossee's because my daughter got sick as soon as we were seated and haven't tried Citrico's. I'm hoping we love Shulas and can now put that on our list of must do's.

Personally, I'd feel "under dressed" wearing shorts in Shula's...

But, things change, I suppose...

Shulas. Definitely.

I haven't been to Flying Fish, but there was no comparision between Shula's and Yachtsman (honestly, I didn't think Yachtsman was that much better than Le Cellier.) Our steak was amazing...the molten lava cake was incredible. I wish we could afford to go every trip.

Hmmm, I will have to pass that on to my husband. I wonder if because it is around the "parks" that is why she said a nice pair of bermuda shorts.

I agree that I'd wear slacks (if I were a man, haha.) Many of the people there were dressed in business casual because they are businessmen/women, not park-goers. Its definitely a "go back and shower before dinner" kind of place...not a "walk over from the park" kind of place.

LOL, thanks. We are doing a water park that day and plan on going back to the room to shower and change.

She said some people do come to their location straight from the park with flips/jean shorts on. :confused3

We will not, nor will our kids be going there like that. I figure we will be paying a fair amount, so why not dress up and enjoy ourselves. I would hate to pay a decent dollar and not feel comfortable because we were not following the dress code. :rolleyes1

I feel the same. I'd feel more like I was getting my money's worth if I was dressed better- then its more of an "experience" than just "getting dinner." I can't believe people show up so casual! I mean, I know its Disney World...but its a convention hotel and its not in a park...

We have eaten at many great places, but I'm still very much looking to enjoying the Disney restaurants!

If not for the free dining option, I wouldn't try many of the 2 TS restaurants. Like many here who've paid OOP have stated, their price doesn't justify the meal.

With DxDDP, we're paying $360 and enjoying eating at several well rated restaurants like Jiko's, California Grill, Ohana's, etc. Just one meal at Shula's would cost over half of that!
