I read a post where someone mentioned getting Schoolbread at Norway before they sold out. What is this and is it really great?

We had it for the first time 2 weeks ago, i got the last one btw, from the Norway bakery Kringla (insert something norwegian).

My description would be like a cross between bread and a donut, filled with like a boston cream, glazed and shredded coconut on top. We did enjoy it very much. Glad it didn't have fish in it. :teeth:

I've been interested in trying one of these, but the coconut on top just changed my mind! :guilty:

I got one around dinner time last week and there were plenty left. I ended up eating it for breakfast the next morning and loved it so much I asked a friend traveling to WDW this weekend to bring me back one. :earsboy:

Yes, they are truly delicious! A MUST eat for me no matter how full I already might be!

The only time I've seen them run out has been late in the evening prior to Illuminations starting. Seems like a lot of people get their snacks to eat while waiting for the fireworks.

Anyone ever get the school bread, save it in a ziploc bag and the refrigerator, and have it for breakfast the next morning? Sounds like my plan!

On our trip in January, I bought a bunch of desserts at the Norway bakery and took them back to the hotel for later than night and the next day. We had a mini-fridge and they were fine. My mom and grandparents really liked the school bread (like a coconut cake) and thought it one of the best desserts at WDW.

Yes, we did just that to BCV. They give it to you in a clear take out container. Then i asked if they had a bag and was given one and that went in the fridge, no ziploc, and still good 30 hours later. I also bought one of the huge glazed pretzel looking things with almonds. It was good, just the school bread was much better in comparison. I was there in the early evening, maybe they had another tray ready to put out.

Did not refridgerate it, did not put it in a ziplock. They package it in a hard clear plastic box. I did not get food poisioning either. I know with the cream it might have been smart to refridgerate, but heck, I always keep my room at about 65 degrees anyway!

The school bread is a cannot miss on my list. We go 4-6 times a year and I get it everytime. Usually get it while waiting for illuminations and they have always had plenty. Oh and a Viking Coffee

My son and I tried one last week. Never again. We each took one bite then tossed it in the trash.

Yuck, it's just bread stuffed with Boston cream filling and coconut (two things that I love). I was expecting the dough to be sweet but it wasn't.

Oh well, I have to put the School Bread in the same category as Dole Whips, and Beaver Tails. I've tried them once, and once was more than enough for me.

DH and I loved the School bread. It is much bigger than I thought it would be.Almost like a double sized donut with no hole.
I do not like coconut very much but still loved this. The cream in it is very good also. We can't wait to have it again when we go in Dec. :cool1:

My dds and I tried this for the 1st time in Jan. We bought it in the evening to take back to our room to try for breakfast the next day. It was yummy, and no, the pasty/bread part isn't sweet, it's spiced, but IMHO it doesn't need to be sweeter, as the creamy filling is sweet enough. And for those who don't like coconut, one of my dds doesn't either, but it wasn't a problem to scrape the coconut out of the way for her. We shared part of it, put it back in the fridge, and shared the rest later, it's very filling...I'll get it again!

:cool1: this past wendsday , wife and i shared one ,along with a longberry horn and both were yummy! sweet bread filled with a creme filling(kind of tasted like a flan custard) and then frosted and dusted with coconut. awesome!!!!

To us, schoolbread is somethingthat looks better than it tastes. Had it once and was a little disappointed. To each his own. :wave2:
