I have 2 boys 9 and 10 who are in 4th and 5th grade...2 months ago when school started one of the big things on the LONG school supply list was 2 bottles of germx per kid...ok well i also gave my dss9 a small bottle to keep with him because he is a carrier of mrsa and we are very careful of making sure hands are washed or using the germ x so that other kids are protected also and if he is getting up to wash his hands everytime he wipes his nose on his hand he will get in trouble..i do have him put bactrim gel in his nose (doc said good idea) with cold and flu season here but he needs to keeps hands clean.WELL that took all the germ x out of the schools here because of the chance the kids will drink it to get drunk! really...the way they are having to close schools to clean for staph you would think this is not a good move....another thing on the school list was paper towels, ok they cant afford paper towels but now say they are going to do handwashing? they even asked for soap...this is crazy, has this happened anywhere else?

We are all a little freaked out. Until you work with elementary school children, you just have no idea of how much the touch each other, share clothing and hair accessories, sneeze all over keyboards, wipe "stuff" on walls, lick markers, put headphone cords in their mouths...I could go on and on! It really is frightening at how easily it could be spread. I work in the computer lab now and have to go from computer to computer helping the kids. Everytime I touch a mouse or key, I wonder what might have been growing on it. I go through almost a bottle of sanitizer per week just for myself.
