School Shopping!!!

I just finished up school shopping for my kids. I only have about 3 things left on my list and shoes. I like to wait for shoes in case they grow. It got me thinking, am I the only one that loves school shopping for my kids??

Where do you shop for back to school clothes??

Where would you if money were no object??

How much do you think you'll spend on each kid??

Is this something you look forward to or something you dread??

When do you plan on going, or did you already go??

Ahhhhhhhh School Shopping . . .We did this last Friday . . .took DD and DS to the Mall and they each spent $150 on clothes. Then we did sneaker shopping on Sunday . . .they both got Etnies?<sp> and DS had to have an Etnies t-shirt and a Billabong hoodie . . .DS spent $81 on those things and DD spent $60 on her sneakers . . .DS (10) had b-day money and he knows how to spend it . . .DD will be 14 on September 1 and she hasn't gotten her b-day money yet . . .I'm sure she'll find good use for it.

We still have to go "supply" shopping. DS doesn't need much of anything going into 5th grade but DD who is going into 9th will need stuff. I wish the highschool would supply a list to let us know what and how many we need.

DD and DS have the shopping bug . . .me, on the other hand, I hate shopping . . .So its kind of a pain, but I get through it . . .

I can't believe how difficult my DS has become on his clothes . . .he's so anal sometimes . . .don't know where he gets that from.

Have not done school shopping yet... but starting to think about it. DD is rapidly outgrowing everything... so it will be a major one this time. I am thinking we will do it on the weekend of the 16th.

I look forward to it. Shopping is always fun - especially when you are dressing someone as cute as my DD! She looks good in everything.

I'm the most unstereotypical woman when it comes to shopping, I hate shopping. Going school shopping is VERY stressful.

been asking DS11 if there is anything he needs and he says no. Already have new sneakers - want to get him a black pair for formal/semi-formal nights on our cruise. He doesnt care what he wears as long as he's covered. Hasnt changed sizes in a few yrs now - 14/16. I will go through his clothes just to make sure he has at least 5 good pants, and 5 collar shirts. This will save time once I start packing for our Nov cruise too. Bought him underwear/sox before our July vaca.

All I have left to get for the kids are sneakers and maybe 3-4 pairs of pants for my oldest. I will not buy them new clothes just to go to school the first day, I refuse. Why? because when I buy them too much , they tend to wear the same outfits over and over and at times other outfits stay in the closet with the tag still on, until someone else takes them because they don't fit anymore.
I also tend to give dd X amount of money and tell her this is all you get , buy whatever that gives you. That usually gets her to really think what to get since she realizes she can't get as much as she wants, things are expensive. That's what works for me now.
You see, my kids think I have a money tree in the backyard....LOL.

My kids are still young enough (4 & 8) that I can buy their clothes without much grief. DS8 lives in t-shirts even in the winter so I only bought him a couple new pairs of jeans and socks. I also bought him a pair of the lands end all-weather moc shoes (no ties) and he needs one pair of sneakers.

DD4 still has pants from last year that fit, but I did buy her a couple new outfits. She still needs shoes & sneakers. Both kids need winter boots and then they'll be all set.

DD is in her second year of pre-school so won't need supplies. DS is going into 3rd grade and I'm not sure what he'll need. Wish the teachers would send out a supply list before school starts (8/26) but I doubt that will happen. It would be easier to go now when we have the time.

I don't mind shopping. I did well for the kids at Kohl's and JC Penney. I also order from lands End.

If I had a daughter, we'd have to take out a second mortgage come back to school shopping.

But since I have boys, school shopping consists of going to Old Navy or Children's Place and making one fell swoop. They could care less what they wear, they sure did not inherit my interest in fashion........

Its one of the things I miss about school! Getting a bunch of new clothes, pens, pencils, fancy little notebooks, then putting them away in the closet w/ the tags on & anxiously awaiting the first day where you could put on the new stuff ! Nothing like it! I miss being a kid, (sometimes )

Well, I have two teen DD's, so school shopping is not an easy thing! We've bought some jeans and sweatpants so far, mostly need tshirts/tops to go with everything.

We shop a variety of places, but they like A&F, Hollister, etc., but avoid Aeropostale like the plague! Go figure!

Dixie Dreamer-that is how I feel about my little girl. Everything is just SOOO cute.

And I hear you snoopy about the second mortgage. I bought Allison 5 pairs of shoes today. But they were all just too adorable to pass up. And she is only in preschool!!! She got stuff from the children's place, nordstroms (love their anniversary sale!), gap (cuz they carry slims), gymboree, the bon macy's, old navy and walmart and ordered a few things from LLBean. I guess it comes from all over.

My son, too, who is starting Kindergarten got a load too. I think I went overboard, but it was way too fun. I like the pants from the Gap because they have an adjustable waist and I hit the Nordstrom's anniversary sale and got a bunch of hooded sweatshirts. It is hard to find pants for him cuz he is so skinny. I also ordered a few things from LLBean.

I live in a very affluent area and I try really hard not to be brand concious and I won't buy things with labels on them. I want my kids to grow up looking at clothes from a quality standpoint and not from a label standpoint. I really love luxurious fabrics, and I don't mind paying for them. But I hate buying stuff just cuz it says some stupid designers name all over it so you are a walking advertisement.

We've bought some but not much. DS still probably only needs one or two more pairs of jeans, but he won't need those until late Sept. I bought him a lot a jean shorts on clearance last month ($1/$2 NEW!), and my duaghter has at least four boxes of clothes!

I got her two pairs of capris for her, but she needs a belt! (Oh to be tall and skinny like her!)


They both need shoes, but I will get those when we get back from Disney World!!!!!!!

DD starts kindergarten in September and luckily I just bought the rest of her stuff yesterday. I ended up buying around 12 outfits for her, so she'll have some variety. DD is VERY skinny and the only pants that fit her are the slims in GAP and pants from Gymboree. Everything falls off of her, or if it fits her in the waist, is too short. She has VERY long legs, and is tiny. So, those were the only places I could shop this year. She also DEMANDED a pair of Sketchers, so we bought those too. They weren't more expensive then the usual sneakers I buy her from Stride Rite, so it really wasn't a big deal. I didn't buy her shoes this year, like I have done in the past couple of years. She usually just wants to wear her sneakers all the time, so the $50 shoes I buy just end up sitting there. So, this year, no shoes!!!! We'll see how long I last without those!!!

I've bought most of my DS's(14) clothes & sneaks online (except jeans & pants-he needs to try those on for fit). For my DS(7) & DD(2 1/2) we get most of their stuff at the outlet mall. I dread getting school supplies because our school does not get the list to us untill the week before school or sometimes after school starts. It's hard to find a lot of things because they are sold out. I get the basics ahead of time like pencils & pens, paper, crayons ect.. I buy their backpacks at LL Bean and they last at least 3 yrs. If money were no object I would buy some of their clothes from Hannah Anderson. There is a website with the sweetest little girls clothing(Soup, Balu, Little Mass) but the outfits average around $75-$120.00 each- ouch !

I'm a geek. I love shopping for school supplies, and that is already done. Boo hoo, I hope he runs out of stuff so I can go buy more!

However, I hate clothes shopping. When DS (now 9) was younger, I bought everything I could online. Now he's growing so quickly and has such long legs that I can't buy him anything without him trying it on first. We've gone to Old Navy and bought sweats and sweatshirts and a pair of cargo pants. He still needs shoes and a couple of pairs of jeans and a couple of shirts to start the year. Sears usually has the best jeans prices, and I'll go to Foot Locker for his shoes.

He'll also need a new winter coat this year, and I'll probably buy it at LL Bean or maybe Land's End.

Shopping for me is a breeze because mine wear the navy bottoms and white polo tops!

I shopped at the GAP, and The CHildren's Place. In fact I got all of the stuff needed last yr at the end of the season sale, so I got it dirt cheap! All we need now are the pencils and a few other odd ends and items, but I have to wait for the school to sned me the list fo what is needed!

Got the shoes already from lands end overstocks.
