School Pep Rally Ideas

Okay, I'll bite since nobody else has. I don't understand- isn't a pep rally just a pep rally in and of itself? Do you maybe mean fund raiser? Or maybe just more information would be helpful.

My dd needs ideas for school pep rallies. Any ideas?

At the pep rallies here, they introduce the football players, the cheerleaders do some cheers, they sing the school fight song, the coach says a few words and sometimes they do a skit demeaning the other team. What else is there to do?

Some of the ones that our school has done in the past are 50's, 80's, luau or hawaiian themed. The 80's one turned out really great. The girls wore leggings and long shirts, teased their hair really big and wore one lace glove. They did a dance routine to jump by Van Halen. It turned out really cute.

Local schools have always had a spirit stick competition. A spirit stick is just an oversized stick painted with the team name/colors. The cheerleaders lead each grade/class group in a basic school cheer. A group of teachers vote and whichever group is loudest wins. Pep bands and flag corps do routines, too.

what our HS has done in the past:
white out (wear all white, paint faces, throw toilet paper etc)
black out
neon
arm/elbow pads
hippie
denim
faculty (meaning they all had to dress up suit style -even tho faculty doesn't do that:confused3)
nerd
toga
circus
sports jersey

that I can remember. Usually the white out/black out was for the whole school to do, some of the others were split by class and those that had the most wearing the "theme" had the most spirit

Oh goodness! My daughter is a cheerleader at her high-school and they go all out for them.

Each pep rally week we have a different theme . There is a huge spirit stick given out to the class with the most spirit at the end of each pep rally. We have our band there. The classes are set together in sections. The band plays as the team comes in and the cheerleaders and dance team dance to the band as the team is seated. They do some fun things, the band plays and the cheerleaders cheer or dance. They introduce to captains for that game, have a pep talk and then the band plays again as the team leaves while the band plays and the cheer and dance teams dance.

What makes our pep rally's is that each week the students in each grade dress in a theme the day of th pep rally. For example, the very first week, to welcome the freshmen, they give them a color. It's a weird color too like metallic copper or something off the wall. The other classes have easy colors, and the seniors are always black.

They can dress in this color, bring decorations in this color and what ever that want to bring spirit to the pep rally, in this color! It's a lot of fun.

We also have super hero week where each class is assigned a super hero. They dress like it and bring items in for the pep rally to represent that hero. That's a big hit for the kids! It's something different each week.

They also have a twin day and give a prize to he best costumes! Not sure how they vote on that but this year those kids got creative! Lots of fun!

What ever we do, each class does something different and they compete for the spirit stick. It's really cute. :cheer2:

In my HS we always had the annual "pep rally square dance bonfire". The entire school had square dancing in gym for a few weeks before hand. As background this was New Jersey in the 80's so the days of big hair, springsteen, and madonna. How/why we were square dancing or when it got started remains a mystery to me.
