We are leaving for the Baltimore/Annapolis on Thurs. 4/29 for a 4 day trip with dd's high school music department. If any of you DISer's out there are in that area...
We will be performing/competing in various schools: Annapolis High School on Friday. and I think Chesapeake high also.
Any suggestions for a quick lunch in Annapolis?? We will be dropped off at the ''City Dock"? Is the Market House something we should consider...food on the run?? (we have 2 hours 12-2pm)

We'll also be in the Crofton's Armed Forces Day Parade on Saturday morning. Anyone heard of this parade? if any of you are in the area.... Come cheer on our Barnstable High School's marching band and the other participants! Thanks!

Just bumping up for the afternoon and evening DISer's!

If I were in the area, I'd go. I fondly remember DS's high school band days. Now he's "chasing his dream" of being a musician in college. She'll have memories to last her lifetime!

Simba's Mom....Thanks....They are fun to watch...My DD is off to college this fall and will continue her love of guard during the school year and hopefully continue in the independent drum corp during the summer months that she also participates in when she's not with the high school band. It's never ending...but lots of fun!

Anyone know of places to eat quickly in Annapolis?? Any really good shopping in downtown/near harbor?

I hope I can help you some--I grew up in the Annapolis area. There might be some challenges in getting a quick bite in downtown Annapolis at noon-2pm on a weekday---it has a lot of government employees, Midshipmen, tourism, and courts. I think there are some cafe's up on Main Street and some near the Market House. I not sure if all of those businesses are up still---the downtown area was hit hard last year by the hurricane (flooding). There are some small shops in a walking distance. I did most of my dining in full service resteraunts like Phillips on special occasions. Most of the fastfood places are up at the mall area (near Annapolis High School). I have not heard about Crofton having parades, but Anne Arundel County has grown a lot--more mall, movie theater, and resteraunts since I moved in 1996.

Thanks NC Belle.....I'll check out those links, there's a few I hadn't seen yet....I'm sure I will have a great time there(although short) heard it is a beautiful area. We are going to the Naval Acd. also.

I used to go take walks around the Naval Academy when I had my car serviced. My sister was into music and got to be selected with other high schoolers to play for a certain series of concerts back in the late 80's. The last time that I went to USNA was when they were constructing the new visitor center back in 1995. I haven't been to been to Annapolis High or Chesapeake HS facilities since I was in high school---the only competition for band/drill team-flags that I went to in 1986 or 1987 was held at Anne Arundel Community College. Those high schools used to have the better fields than where I went to high school. Have fun and I hope it is a sunny trip for y'all.

Annapolis City Dock area is a very nice area to stroll around. There are numerous restaurants and a "market" in the center where you could probably get something quicker than a sit down meal. There are also many shops to browse through. Have fun, and hope you have nice weather for your trip.

Thanks! On one of the sites, (above that NC Belle so nicely gave) listed food stands in the "Market". Seeing we will have a buffet breakfast at the hotel and will be dining out for dinner that night, this may be a good choice, for a light lunch. Last night I found out that I will have 8 girls under my wing, (with another mom) so shopping will probably take precedent over eating! :)

Anyone ever hear of that parade in Crofton? I hope it's not too hot on Saturday, :sunny: as those kids in the marching band have heavy uniforms!(mostly used in the fall, during football games, and they better get lighter uniforms before they go to WDW to perform in 2006)
Our winter guard and winter percussion won 1st place in our state finals this year, they will perform on Friday. Our chorus, vocal jazz and jazz band are also performing at those high schools on Friday, so if you're in the area, look us up....some really nice music from our kids! (If I must say myself) and we get to see the marvelous Navy band perform on Friday night!
Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!
Any other tips....... are MOST welcome!
